 George Kinnane has been with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan for 13 years. He is a process Improvement Senior Analyst for West Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. He is based out of the Grand Rapids office however, spends much of his time in the U.P. His primary responsibilities include: U.P. Professional Provider Reimbursement, U.P. Sales and Service Support, and Health Care Reform education. The Session's topics will include: - Is my organization required to provide health insurance coverege to its employees in 2014?

Dr. Sarah Nicholls is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Community, Agriculture, Recreation & Resource Studies (CARRS) and Geography at Michigan State University. She holds a B.Sc. in Geography from University College London and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences from Texas A&M University. Sarah's work focuses on the planning, development and impacts of tourism in Michigan and beyond. She recently conducted a tourism development plan for the Caribbean island of St. Kitts, studies of both green lodging and agri-tourism in Michigan, and she was the lead facilitator of the 2012-2017 Michigan Tourism Strategic Plan.
Sarah teaches a variety of tourism classes, including Introduction to Travel and Tourism, Geography of Recreation and Tourism, Tourism in Regional Development, and Tourism and Global Change. She serves on the editorial boards of Tourism Analysis, the Journal of Leisure Research, the Journal of Travel Research and the Journal of Educational Travel. She also serves on the Michigan Lodging and Tourism Association's Education Committee and the Pure Michigan Governor's Conference on Tourism Conference Planning Committee. In April 2013 Sarah was presented with the Outstanding Achievement in Michigan Tourism Award by Governor Snyder.

Joseph Ranthum has a bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Public Health from the University of Wisconsin. He has been employed with Public Health of Delta and Menominee Counties since January 2012. His prior experience includes interning with the Ashland County Health and Human Services Department in Ashland, Wisconsin in 2011. His current duties include: Food safety inspections and licensing, Water Well and Septic System permitting, Adult and Child Care Environmental Health Inspections, and Public Health Complaint investigations.

Uppertunities Showcase, in conjunction with the Uppertunities Conference, provides a venue for you to share information with those that generally make first contact with visitors, to increase their knowledge of tourism events and places of interest that have the potential to positively impact our local economy.
This is an exceptional opportunity for businesses, organizations and community groups to showcase their products, services and attractions. The conference is a region-wide endeavor and will be promoted by our many partners across the Upper Peninsula and Wisconsin. The target audience for the showcase will be the general public, Chamber and Tourism Association members and residents of the Upper Peninsula.
The Booth
The Uppertunities showcase booths are 10' x 3'. A table, skirting and two chairs will be provided to accommodate your table top display.
We encourage community sharing! You may include anyone you want in your space. Booths are $99 and one ticket to the conference is included in the price of a booth.
