Anatomy of a Million Dollar Home...
Reflecting Perfection!
An impressive use of glass in our homes is the mitered glass breakfast nook window. Without frames there is no interruption of your view to our beautiful Florida landscapes and waterways. Constructed like an aquarium, the angled panes of glass are put together with a strong sealant eliminating the need for conventional framing. This same technique is used for frameless shower surrounds.
Mirrors and glass aren't the first thing you think about when designing your new home, but take a look around and you will see the many uses of glass and mirrors in your interior design. Mirrors add depth and dimension to otherwise flat walls and also, when properly place reflect views that may not be seen because of furniture placement.
Reflective surfaces add sparkle to a room and can make a room brighter by bouncing light from windows and lamps to unlit areas. And, according to Bruce Ingebretsen of KDS Custom Mirrors, Inc., "Glass is strong, beautiful, and easy to clean."
First step to getting the most from your glass and mirrors is to meet with TowlesCorp and Bruce to plan out the best uses of glass and mirrors in your home. Bruce will make suggestions that work with your home's layout as well as your personal design style.
Shower enclosures can be framed or frameless. Frameless shower enclosures entered the home glass industry about five or six years ago. There are various products and finishes to choose from, to fit your practical and personal needs. TowlesCorp and Bruce will work together to determine, for instance, proper door placement, enclosure height, and finish. Many options and upgrades are available, such as colored glass, frosted, and patterned.
HydroShield is another upgrade that Bruce encourages his clients to consider. HydroShield is a chemical surface application which protects products like windows, shower doors, art glass, glass blocks, and table tops. It prevents hard water damage, staining, and etching and reduces maintenance by 75%. It is also eco-friendly by eliminating the need for harsh chemical cleaners.
KDS also offers mirrors of all sizes, shapes, cuts, and bevels, and can be etched, frosted or colored. Don't just think about bathroom vanity mirrors or hallway mirrors, but also consider both mirrors and glass for built-in entertainment centers.
Glass used as kitchen countertops is not commonly seen, but Bruce can show you examples of how he can incorporate them into your kitchen design. Also offered by KDS are impact resistant products for protection from severe weather.
