Greetings!
February Has Been Interesting!
Well...February has been giving us some interesting weather! Shifts in temperatures have created unseasonably warm weather contrasted with cold fronts coming from the North...sometimes within the same week! This is also the time of year when our community and our homes, are filled with Northern visitors. There's nothing worse than having a house full of company and the pool is too cold to use. As you know, changes in air temperature can really have an effect on water temperature in your pool...and it doesn't warm up as fast as the air temperature changes! In my previous newsletters, I've given you advice on energy efficiency for your homes' interior. Today we'll focus on your pool and the efficient products that will keep it in tip top shape!

And now a word from our Homeowners...

A two story home customized to fit a Key lot. The long paver driveway leads past the two car garage to the columned front entry steps. |
TowlesCorp is without a doubt the finest builder in Southwest Florida and the best I have dealt with during the course of building 5 homes around the country over the last 30+ years. We built our 5,400 sq. ft. home about 6 years ago and have had no serious problems with it since that time. The few minor issues were taken care of by TowlesCorp's subs in a professional manner. His attention to detail and flexibility re: changes during the course of construction are unequalled.

The waterfall set within a Romanesque arch along with precast columns and railings (at pool level and on the second story) give an Italianate flair to this outdoor retreat.

I would recommend TowlesCorp to anyone considering a custom home in this area. My wife feels the same way." Bob Amrhein

Ask Keith...
What are the best choices for energy efficient pool maintenance?
Whether building a new pool or remodeling your existing pool, today's pumps, generators and heaters are built better and more efficient than previous versions. And that means $$$ in your pocket!
The newer pumps have a variety of speeds to fine tune the circulation of water through the pool. If you can dial down more than 2 speeds your savings will go up! Sometimes the pump won't be able to run at the lowest speeds because of the amount or variety of accessories. But in many cases, you may realize savings of up to 60% over older models.
A Salt Generator is another way to create a more efficient pool environment. The myth surrounding salt generators is that there is no chlorine with a salt system. The truth of the matter is, the salt generator produces it's own chlorine - using salt - at a low constant dose while the pump is running. This creates soft water which is better for skin, hair color, no red burning eyes and less chemicals absorbed by your body.
An electric Heat Pump is more efficient than gas pumps. You can save up to 80% in energy. The cost to heat an average 325 sf pool could run over $200 per month with a gas pump. The energy efficient pump, covered with a blanket at night, will cost approximately $110 per month. These new Heat Pumps are also longer lasting because the plastic casing and exposed parts are specially formulated for our Florida environment, saving you more money over the life of the unit.
