"The windows in my current home are old and drafty. What's the best type of windows to use in planning my new home?"
Windows have come a long way from the standard units that just let light and air into our homes. New windows can lower energy costs, reduce noise, filter UV rays that cause fading and provide hurricane protection!
I like to use the PGT series of vinyl windows for our new custom homes. They come in a variety of styles and price points and can also be used for replacement projects. These windows combine heavy-duty aluminum reinforced vinyl frames with impact -resistant laminated insulating glass. The energy efficiency can significantly reduce cooling and heating costs. Some include simulated "wood" finishes, frames & trim detail, but since they're vinyl they won't rot, warp or splinter and are low maintenace.
Depending on the series selected, many of the windows are  available in a variety of styles and sizes - double or single hung, horizontal sliders and decorative/architectural styles...picture windows, round, oval and arched.
