Congratulations to the 2012 Teacher Innovator Award Winners. Jennifer Lewis from Indian Knoll Elementary School in Canton and Debbie Sasson from the Epstein School in Sandy Springs received first prizes.

Andrea Hobbs from Sumter County Elementary Math, Science and Technology Academy in Americus was among the third place winners.

Team Nanocrystals from Rockdale Siemen's We Can Change the World Winners from  Georgia Schools.
Kudos to "Team Tackling Trash With Tires" from Kelly Mill Elementary School and their mentor Stephanie Summer. They won first place in the elementary school division. 

Meanwhile "Team Nanocrystals" from Rockdale Magnet School for Sci Tech and their mentor Scott Bolen won first prize in the high school division. Read about their amazing winning entries.

Samsung Video Contest
Be the heroes of your school and WIN a SAMCAM 760 for your school and $500 for your student! This competition is fun and engaging. Students are to portray their favorite historical character on video. All entries will be posted on YouTube.  Contest deadline is May 31, 2013.


Summer Reading List
We're sending out  one more email before school let's out and we want to hear from you!  Fiction and non-fiction, what's on your must-read list for the summer?  What are you recommending to students to read this summer?  We'll share your book list and some from ours, too, in the final newsletter of the year in just a few weeks.  Send your reading lists to education@gpb.org (or hit the reply button on this email) by May 10.

May 3rd is the first Georgia STEM Day!  It's a day for educators, students and companies to raise awareness and participate in activities involving science, technology, engineering and math and connect to their future careers. You can find STEM activities here  and learn more about what the day is about in this Passion for Learning blog post.   

Georgia STEM Day is a great time to talk to you students about the many STEM careers in our state, like the ones discussed in the Fast Forward video from Gulfstream Aerospace below.  We encourage you to use Fast Forward in your classrooms on the day.
