Everyone's in the holiday spirit!
Happy Holidays from all of us to all of you!

As we near the end of the year, it's a good time to reflect on the past year, and to thank each of you for helping make this the best year ever for The Land Connection!  Here are just a few of our accomplishments in 2013:

FARMER TRAINING

FARMLAND ACCESS
  • We have successfully matched land owners with new farmers through our Weekly Harvest classifieds, and through Midwest Farm Connection.  Read one of our stories here
  • Because farm transitions are unique to every family, we now offer one-on-one coaching to farm families or to anyone who has inherited farmland. Read more here.

OUTREACH & EDUCATION
  • The 2014 Farmer-Annotated Calendar is the first one to feature our Farm Beginnings graduates  Check it out!
All of the above . . . Thanks to you!

It really is through the generosity of individuals that we are able to do all of the above and more.

There's only one week left in 2014, and your contribution, large or small, helps us plant seeds for a bright future in which many new farmers steward our soil, air, and water while growing healthy foods for our communities.

Thank you for your generous support. We could not do this crucial work without you!

An easement can ensure that this fertile farmland is never paved over.
Magdalena writes about easements, and how you can use them to protect your land.

Ag easements are an estate planning tool that lets you preserve and protect your family farm for future generations. Land owners who place an ag easement on a parcel can still sell it, will it to their children or grandchildren, change the type of farming on it, or use it as collateral. They just cannot convert it to a non-agricultural use.  Get more information, and useful links, from Magdalena's article.
