How To Make 2013 Your Lucky Number
It's that time again where everyone decides to make resolutions for the New Year. The most popular is (no surprise) losing weight, followed by saving money, etc. For so many, these start off well in the first few weeks or even months (if you're lucky). However, they begin to fade as some of our resolutions are too rigid or we simply drift back into our old ways. This year, I would propose that you try something new.
First, take a look at the things in your life that you are happy with and what you are grateful for. This can be family, other people in our lives, our jobs, our abilities, our health, successes over the past year, etc. This will obviously vary for all of us, but dig deep. We all have so many things to be grateful for. Write these down as it is always more powerful if you see what you are thinking.
Next, write down what you would like to change or happen in 2013. Don't be shy and write as many as you can think of and what you think would help improve your life. HOWEVER, when you write these down, write them with conviction and positivity. The important point here is that you need to believe that you will achieve these things. Be confident and believe in yourself. For example. write down, "I will make better choices with food and exercise" as opposed to "lose weight," or "I will spend wisely and save money" as opposed to "I will not spend a lot of money." Only use positive statements to create positive outcomes.
Use visualization and pictures. If you have a picture of something you would like to achieve on your list, attach it to your list. This could be a picture of money, a house or of someone who looks as healthy as you would strive to be. These are the secret tools that many successful people use. You may notice athletes use this tool often as they pause before they go for the foul shot or kick extra points.
Finally, put that list next to your bed. Look at it every night before you go to bed and let it be the first thing you do when you wake up. First, read your list of things you are grateful for. That always puts everything into perspective and creates positivity before you state your goals. Then, state your goals with great positivity and visualize what you WILL achieve. Think of how you will feel when you reach your goal. Before you know it, you will figure out how to get where you want to go and you will start every day with a new bounce and purpose.
Sometimes, we realize we need a little help along the way. There is nothing wrong with that! If one of your goals is to lose weight or maintain a more healthy lifestyle, I am happy to work with you. Here are what a few of my most recent clients have said:
