This year as Thanksgiving approaches, giving thanks means more than it ever has. On the heels of Sandy, I am grateful that our only consequence was loss of power for a few weeks. The loss and damage of homes and devastation to our beloved Jersey Shore, Staten Island, Long Island and so many of our own local areas have made us appreciate what we have For the fortunate majority of us, it is now time to put away the flashlights and lanterns and clean up the pizza boxes and empty bottles of wine. While we sedated ourselves with lots of sleep, comfort food and drinks, we all need to pick up ourselves and get back to our pre-Sandy lives. Now that your fridge is running and you're not living out of a cooler, stock up on some fresh veggies, fruit and protein to get you going and bring back your energy. Don't forget to start your days with some type of movement such as walking around the block, yoga or even jogging in place. Get that blood flowing and be sure to think of all the things you have to be thankful for.

Effective Way to Relieve Stress
Many of us have lost 2 weeks of our lives due to Sandy. The unfortunate are still dealing with the aftermath. Sure, we should just move on and pick up where we left off. Sounds simple enough but sometimes it's hard to hunker down and focus with the stress of putting back the pieces, especially with the holidays looming.
I have found a very effective way to deal with stress and pain which will help ease back into your routine and simply help in every day life.
Relaxation of any type is effective for stress or pain management.
People who do relaxation exercises are better able to dissipate stress and tolerate pain, AND they actually feel less stress or pain. In other words, relaxation exercises can take at least some of your stress/pain away, and make it a little easier to tolerate. In this stress/pain management relaxation script, you'll be guided to focus on observing and accepting, and then transforming your stress/pain, then focus the mind in meditation to provide physical and mental relaxation and relief (click here to continue).
