Shopping Locally
You have all heard of Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and the rest. I hate to jump on those bandwagons, but if I wage my own private war against commercialization that won't help me as a small business owner. So, have you heard of Small-Business Saturday? That's tomorrow and I certainly qualify as a Small Business. Please support small businesses and your local business owners throughout this season.
Where else in Solano County can you see and try Schacht and Ashford spinning wheels and looms, browse books, buy farm-produced gifts and kits, and shop for yarn and handwoven goods all in the same place?
The shop is open Thursdays and Saturdays through December from 10-5 (except 12/8).
December 8 & 9 (hours 10-4) is our Holiday Market--there will be more about that in the next newsletter.

Schacht-Reeves Spinning Wheel
Beautiful fairytale wheel!
When I visited the Schacht Spindle Company in Boulder, CO last August I was taken with this beautiful wheel and couldn't resist ordering one.
Come to the shop to see for yourself. I have the 24" ST wheel in Ash now in stock for sale. Also in stock are the Schacht Matchless, Ladybug, and Sidekick wheels, and Ashford Joy, Traditional, Traveller, and Country Spinning Wheels. When you visit Meridian Jacobs you can try all these wheels and compare them side-by-side.

 Sample-It
Isn't it cute? This is the newest product by Ashford--the new Sample-It Rigid Heddle Loom. At only 8" wide it is very portable and affordable, and it is perfect for trying out new yarns and ideas. We will have these in the shop in early December. We also have the larger Ashford Knitters Loom and the Schacht Cricket and Flip looms for you to try.

Learn to Spin and Weave
Sign up now for winter classes
You are intrigued by the idea of making your own yarn and doing something with it other than knitting. Where do you start? I recommend starting with a class (and maybe a good book).
The classes listed in the top left corner of this newsletter are all for beginners or for people who want to enhance their skills. You will learn to spin on a spinning wheel in the 3-session Learn to Spin class. In Learn to Weave you spend 2 days and weave on floor or table looms. You learn to plan a project, set up the loom and you go home with a scarf. In the 1-day Rigid Heddle class you will also finish a project while learning to use the rigid heddle looms.
You have lots of personal attention in classes at Meridian Jacobs. Be sure to sign up in advance. Class space is limited.
