The Leadership Southern Maryland (LSM) Board of Directors announced today that they will host two informal breakfast meetings in Calvert County to invite potential candidates to learn more about the benefits of LSM.


 

Leadership Southern Maryland is a nine-month tuition-based program specially designed to develop leaders from the Southern Maryland area for regional collaboration. The LSM program is dedicated to building a cadre of informed regional leaders, prepared to address common issues and bring long-term benefit to their neighbors and communities. LSM values diversity and seeks a cross-section of leaders from across the region.  

 

Leadership Southern Maryland is an independent, educational leadership development organization designed to broaden the knowledge base of mid to senior level public and private sector executives about the critical issues, challenges, and opportunities facing the region. Leadership Southern Maryland is a not-for-profit organization.

Calvert County Health Department will have a flu clinic on Thursday, January 22nd, 2015 from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Health Department.

Children in pre-K through 12th grade are now free while supplies last!

All others will be charged a $20.00 fee. Medicare Part B is also accepted.

Calvert County Business Climate Survey
  

The Department of Economic Development requests your help in completing the 2014 Business Survey so we can continue to provide a supportive business climate in Calvert County on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC). The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.


 

This survey helps monitor county business trends and suggests steps to provide assistance to the business community. Information compiled is confidential and helps the Department of Economic Development tailor business support programs and report trends to the BOCC.

Warm Places in Northern Calvert County
  

With freezing temperatures expected today and Thursday, there are several places residents can go to get warm. The county's community centers will be open during regular hours and safe drinking water is available in each of them. Residents who need to take refuge from the cold can go to one of the following locations:


 

Mount Hope Community Center

100 Pushaw Station Road, Sunderland

Open Monday-Saturday, 8:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m., and Sunday, noon-6 p.m.

 

Edward T. Hall Aquatic Center

130 Auto Drive, Prince Frederick

Open Monday-Friday, 6 a.m.-9 p.m., Saturday, 8 a.m.-9 p.m. and Sunday, 8 a.m.-8 p.m.

Saturday: Electronics Recycling Collection Event in Chesapeake Beach Town Hall Parking Lot

Saturday, January 17, 2015: Electronics Recycling Collection Event in the Chesapeake Beach Town Hall Parking Lot. This event will take place from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm. The Calvert County Recycling Center will be collecting all electronic equipment with the exception of appliances; also no light bulbs.


 

Examples of electronic equipment are televisions, radios, computers, cell phones, VCRs, power supply cords, printers, monitors, keyboards and scanners. Material from residents and businesses are accepted and proof of residency is required. Household appliances will not be accepted.
