With so much dreary news and cold weather upon us, it is a special pleasure to invite you to an event that will lift your spirits and warm your heart - the 12th annual Calvert County Women of the World (WOW) Awards Luncheon. I urge you to send in your reservation today so that you, too, can be part of this inspiring awards luncheon that honors outstanding Calvert County women and girls for their accomplishments and contributions.
This year's theme is Women Involved: Women Making a Difference!
The keynote speaker is distinguished Calvert County author and attorney, Carol McCabe Booker, who has just published the acclaimed book - Shocking the Conscience: A Reporter's Account of the Civil Rights Movement - with her husband, Simeon Booker.
The WOW luncheon is co-chaired by our Commission for Women and the League of Women Voters, in collaboration with nonprofit and women's organizations across Calvert County.
Organizations recognizing women and girls include the Calvert Collaborative for Children and Youth, the Commission for Women, Calvert County Hospice, the Community Mediation Center, the Girl Scouts, Concerned Black Women, the League of Women Voters, and the local chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
Current sponsors include SMECO and the College of Southern Maryland. Additional sponsors are welcome and will be recognized at the event and in the printed program.
The location is the College of Southern Maryland's lovely new conference center on the Prince Frederick Campus - 115 J.W. Williams Road, Prince Frederick, MD 20678.
This March 15th event begins with registration and networking from 11:30 a.m. to noon, with the actual luncheon and awards program from noon to 2:00 p.m.
For adults, the cost is $27. This year there is a new and special $15 rate for anyone who is age 21 or younger. So please not only attend, but also bring a young person with you!
Yes, this luncheon recognizes excellence in women and girls. And, of course, we also invite men and boys to join in this celebration and attend the luncheon.

Since this event includes a hearty and scrumptious buffet luncheon by Maryland Country Caterers, be sure to send in your check and register in advance - by Tuesday, February 25th!
