Calvert Alliance Against Substance Abuse Vacancy

The Calvert Alliance Against Substance Abuse, Inc. (CAASA) will have a vacancy on its Board of Directors starting October 28th.   It is rare that these vacancies occur but we have a Board Member who has served the maximum of three terms so he has to step down.

We are looking for someone with a passion for helping people and wanting to make a difference in our community.   CAASA's mission is to "involve the entire community to promote a healthy environment free of alcohol and other drug abuse".

If you are interested in serving on the CAASA Board of Directors, please call or send me an e-mail.   A term on the Board is for three years and members can serve a maximum of three terms.   Members must be Calvert County residents.

I appreciate your consideration.

Sincerely,

Candice

Buy Local Campaign

At the July BBG meeting, I briefly discussed an initiative I'm involved in on behalf of the Bay Business Group to look into a Buy Local campaign, which is something we've been talking about for a long time. Here's the link to an organization, AMIBA, that helps other groups nationwide launch such initiatives.

AMIBA shares proven resources, professionally-designed marketing materials, and best practices so groups like ours don't have to reinvent the wheel.  Please take a few minutes to look at what they have to offer. There's also a section of research on the benefits of Buy Local campaigns, explaining how it could be of great value to all of us in getting consumers to buy more from independent businesses like ours. If you're interested in being on a subcommittee of this local group exploring the concept, please let me know.

Sincerely, Diane Burr, BBG President
