Northern Calvert Lions Club -
The Lions motto, "We Serve" has always been uppermost in the minds of the Twin Beaches/Northern Calvert club. Locally the club has provided emergency help, scholarships, and important aid to community projects including ball teams, a medical center, Volunteer Fire Departments, Boys and Girls Clubs, and other organizations and causes deemed by the club as worthy of our support.

 Maryland Tourism is seeking support for tourism promotion funding as proposed in the Governor's FY 2014 budget. Women in Business: Coffee Connections might be for you!
It's with great excitement that I announce a coffee connection getting started in our area - Calvert County. This is very exciting because this area has so much potential and so many great little shops to host our meetings. Kimberly Shoe will be the Coffee Connection coordinator and you can reach her at CalvertCoffeeConnection@gmail.com
The date for the first meeting of the Calvert Coffee Connection is Wednesday 6 February and it will be a happy hour event. We will be meeting at the Heavenly Chicken and Ribs located in Dunkirk, MD. We will gather there at 4:30 and network until 6:00 pm. Heavenly is planning a Special Wine Tasting and Networking Event featuring wines from Fridays Creek Winery.
Coffee Connections is a free networking event held once a month in the Severna Park and Annapolis area. Calvert is our newest addition.
Coffee Connections was started in Annapolis almost 3 years ago of providing networking opportunities for professional and business women that is free and also to focus on local small businesses. To date, this group has grown to over 1000 members on our contact list plus we have a Facebook page with over 200 friends (so far). We invite you to come to our event in Dunkirk and check us out. You will not be disappointed. Bring plenty of business cards and materials. If you like, bring an item for a door prize (specifically related to your business, of course).

Calvert Young Marines Open House
The Calvert County Young Marines are holding an Open House for any potential recruits and their parents at the American Legion in Chesapeake Beach, MD Saturday, February 23rd from 1100-1200.
All who are interested in joining the program are encouraged to attend this open house. The Young Marines is a youth education and service program for boys and girls, ages 8 through completion of high school. The Young Marines promotes the mental, moral, and physical development of its members. The program focuses on character building, leadership, and promotes a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
The Young Marines is the focal point for the U.S. Marine Corps' Youth Drug Demand Reduction efforts. The mission of the Young Marines is to positively impact America's future by providing quality youth development programs for boys and girls that nurtures and develops its members into responsible citizens who enjoy and promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. |
