Together at the well, we'll gather, worship, pray, sing, play, rest, ponder, create, connect, and laugh - a lot. Whether you feel like you're running on empty or walking on water, there's a place for you at the well.

Ask Questions

It has been said that the key to being a good leader is not having all the answers, but asking the right questions. For church leaders, this is a good time of year to be asking a lot of questions.

We are over halfway through the year. How are we doing with our mission as compared to this time last year? Have we established any new relationships in our community? What are we doing to help people begin a relationship with Jesus Christ? How are we helping people deepen their relationship with God?

This is the time of year when we begin to think about leaders for next year. Who are those individuals who have shown leadership potential but have not yet been entrusted with the role? How are we doing at supporting our leaders? How are we doing at holding them accountable?

What are we doing to teach good financial practices among our people? Do we expect our pastor to regularly preach on the subject? What are some classes we might offer to help those struggling with their finances?

How can we improve our worship services so that new people are drawn to worship with us? Is our music the best it can be? Are we encouraging and supporting methods for our pastor to improve in their preaching? Is there a welcoming Spirit among us?

Finally, here is the key question for all areas of our life together: what is the next step? We may not know everything that needs to be done but we can at least focus on just the next step of the journey.

None of us know all the answers. But a primary way to get more of them is to ask some good questions. I close with two questions I have been asking all of us for over two years now:

Do you love people who do not know Jesus Christ?

Do you really believe that knowing him will make a difference in their life?

Love, Grace & Peace,

Nathan Malone

PARENTING CONFERENCE
Parents/Grandparents of children 2-18 years of age

Dealing with Anger and Bad Attitudes in Children and their Parents

Bookwalter UMC
August 21st 6:30 - 9:00pm
Emotions can be challenging in family life particularly when it comes to anger and bad attitudes.  This seminar offers parents tools and strategies that apply a heart-based approach so that kids will learn long-term solutions.  Parents learn how to help children develop a strategic plan.
Bring the whole family!  Children through age 12 will learn in fun and exciting ways how to add energy to family life.
Question and answer times provide parents with opportunities to present real problems they're facing and hear suggestions.  The seminar ends by talking about God's desire to touch the hearts of parents, not just their kids.  Parents leave the seminar encouraged, armed with lots of practical strategies, and a new vision for touching the hearts of their children.
Cost:  $20/adult or $30/couple.  To register online:  http://www.bookwalter-umc.org/biblicalparentingflyer.html  For more information or questions please call Bookwalter UMC 689-3349
