 The Developmental Relationships Workshop: Creating Connections That Help Kids Thrive and Motivating Youth by Igniting their Sparks

Search Institute is returning to Butler County. Join us for this FREE EVENT! A full day of training on two exciting topics! During the The Developmental Relationships Workshop, participants will learn practical ways to put concepts into practice while strengthening motivation, persistence, and other skills that are essential for success in school and beyond. Participants will explore how to engage young people in identifying, cultivating, and expressing their sparks and will develop strategies for intentionally engaging young people in conversations and actions that are rooted in their passions and interests.

PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT
 
Drug-Free Workforce Community Initiative 
Envision Partnerships was chosen by the state to lead Greater Hamilton's Drug-Free Workforce Community Initiative. The $25,000 grant is used for building a strong community initiative focused on outreach, media campaigns, and education about drugs and alcohol within the workplace. 
Over the course of a year, Envision Partnerships will host community stakeholders and staff from Working Partners to build a strong public-private partnership that addresses the "economic threat of substance abuse by employees and job seekers in our state".
They always welcome new community stakeholders. Join them at their next meeting on Wednesday, March 8, from 8:30-10:30 a.m.
 at Envision Partnerships, 2935 Hamilton-Mason Rd, Hamilton, OH 45011. A community stakeholder may be a small business owner, an occupational health or safety manager, someone who works in drug and alcohol treatment, union representative or economic development. See attached document.

An Overview for New Employees
   March 3rd & 6th 8am-4:30pm
This 2-day "new worker" orientation combines field trips with guest speakers to allow *new employees to become familiar with Butler County community resources.  Participants will tour facilities, meet agency staff and get up to date information about services, eligibility, referral processes and fees. Cost: $50 per person
*Who Should Attend:  Butler County agency or school employees who have been in their current position for 1 year or less AND who are in a role in which they assist families/consumers in accessing social services. (Others will be accepted for attendance only if space allows.)

Project Aware Ohio  February Teen Violence Awareness  
In honor of National Teen Dating Violence Month Project AWARE Ohio has developed an information brief entitled: Teen Dating Violence: What Schools, Parents, and Youth Need to Know. Please refer to the attached document that outlines what school professionals, parents, and youth need to know about teen dating violence in order to recognize this problem and take steps to keep youth safe from harm. Project Aware Ohio has also gathered awareness and prevention resources in the attached document

3rd Annual #askmewhoiam: Conference on Youth Culture, presented by JOURNEY to Successful Living and Talbert House

Welcome to the PLAY Project May 15th 9am - 4:30pm 
This one-day workshop targets all early intervention and pediatric service providers and family members interested in learning more about The PLAY Project parent-training model of early autism intervention. Attendees will learn about the principles of PLAY, the value of strong family-centered and evidence-based practices, and the research supporting PLAY as an evidence-based intervention. Common Thread Network Upcoming Event March 8th
Learn how to support someone with a disability in the process of decision-making.  Whether or not you are a guardian, or someone who has a guardian, we believe this session will impact your advocacy and support skills.  In the final hour of the event, an eclectic panel including parents, siblings, and a guardianship organization will share their stories, and what lead them to choose or not choose guardianship, and what they're doing to include the voice of their family member/clients in choice-making. New Date! OACCA Redesign June 1st
The Ohio Association of Child Caring Agencies (OACCA) will hold a training on Coding and Documentation Under the Re-Design for Children's Behavioral Health Providers on March 23, 2017 and June 1, 2017 in Columbus, Ohio.  The March training is sold out so they are repeating the training on June 1 -- same content with the same presenter, Diane E. Zucker, M.Ed., CCS-P.The purpose of the training is to educate child and adolescent behavioral health providers about the E&M and CPT coding and documentation requirements featured in Ohio's re-designed behavioral health Medicaid program.  See website for registration and event details.

Power of the Purse Grant Fund
The Power of the Purse Fund held at The Community Foundation of West Chester/Liberty educates, inspires and increases the number of women committed to philanthropy in order to strengthen our community by providing funds and assistance to women and girls. The Power of the Purse Fund is currently soliciting proposals to be considered for funding as part of our annual competitive process.  One $10,000 grant will be awarded to a local nonprofit organization to implement a project or program that follows the guidelines and application in the attached document. More Mindfulness, Less Workplace Stress March 16th, 9am-noon
This introductory session will explore mindfulness, an evidence-based mental habit that can transform workplace stress, enhance resilience and well-being and boost engagement, creativity, and sustainable high performance for individuals and organizations. This workshop will equip participants with practical and applied approaches to mindfulness that easily integrate into the rhythms and routines of the workplace. Participants will learn a basic overview of the neuroscience of stress and mindfulness, specific exercises to increase performance and well-being at work, and guidelines for introducing workplace mindfulness initiatives.See website for registration and event details.

 
Registration for Housing Ohio 2017 is now open! 
April 10-12 COHHIO will be hosting its annual statewide conference in Columbus, focused on ending homelessness in Ohio. This year's Housing Ohio keynote speakers will highlight the nexus between housing and healthcare, and provide insights on the future of federal efforts to fight homelessness under the new Trump Administration. In addition, the Housing Ohio 2017 conference features 30 workshops over two days covering a wide variety of subjects taught by acclaimed professionals working both on the front lines and behind the scenes to tackle homelessness.
