The Butler County Special Olympics Bowling Program will officially begin on Saturday January 7th at The Lanes on the River (Columbia Lanes) at 12:30pm in Hamilton, and on Saturday, January 20th at 12:45pm at Northwest Lanes in Fairfield. Please be at the Lanes early as we will start at the time stated.
To bowl this year you must sign up on our website, www.bcospecialolympics.org or on our Facebook page. We must have current medicals before you can bowl. After you sign up we will check your medical status and let you know if you need a new one.
We will follow the bowling rules as designated by Special Olympics and the USBC. We will alternate lanes and we will record scores weekly.
There will be no Bumpers used during bowling but ramps may be used as
needed. Bowlers will have the opportunity to participate in the Area
Bowling Tournament on April 29 at Mason Bowl. Those wishing to bowl in the Tournament will complete eight weeks of bowling prior to the Tournament. Family and friends are encouraged to cheer on the bowlers.
They may not bowl on the lanes used by the Special Olympians. Coaches at Columbia will be Mary Swagler and Eric Pohlman. Coaches at Northwest will be Phyllis Gibbemeyer and Michelle Wilson.
Bowlers who have bowled with Carol Wenstrup and wish to be considered for the Special Olympics Tournament must register on line, have current Medicals and have the scores for their eight weeks of games. These are to be turned into Mary Swagler by March 10.
Bowlers in the Lakota School Programs will register on Line and will be notified by Vicki Buschur as to their start date, usually in February.

Contact Michelle Davis (mvbt96@gmail.com) Our contemporary performance is for those students in contemporary classes, my teen without limits class and my adults without limits. We will also include those students who are in tap/musical theater classes in a performance piece as well. This performance is May 20, at the Fitton Center and we plan to have a matinee and evening performance on that date.

- SOCCER EXPERIENCE - On Monday, January 23rd from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Game Time Training Center in Fairfield, OH, we are having a fun "soccer experience" for elementary students with disabilities. They will play some soccer and then practice their money skills at the concession stand. You do not need to know how to play soccer. Since it is a Monday morning, it would be great for several folks from a local business to see if they can get away for an hour to volunteer together, or for college students who are not in class, people who are off on a Monday, or anyone else who wants to make a difference. To sign up, please contact Bri Combs via e-mail or (513) 785-2884.
On Wednesday, January 25th, the Park Avenue United Methodist Church is once again hosting the Instrumental Initiative from 6 to 8pm at 801 Park Avenue in Hamilton. Just as before, we will have live band, as well as an all-inclusive, interactive drum circle with many different types of instruments to accommodate all abilities. Pizza, drinks, chips, will be provided. Come make some noise, meet new people, and have a good time! Please RSVP to Bri Combs atbscombs@butlerdd.org or 513-785-2884.
Josh Trumbull, a student at Miami Middletown, created the Instrumental Initiative as his service-learning project during the fall semester. Due to the overwhelming positive response we received from attendees, we would like for the Instrumental Initiative to continue on within the community! Our hope is that each month in 2017, a different group, church, business or organization in our community will host this unique event! If your community group would be interested in hosting an Instrumental Initiative in 2017, please let Bri know!
