The Pause program, an initiative of the Family and Children First Council has acquired the creation and distribution of the Family Connections E-Newsletter as part of our commitment to resource families in Butler County.  While Pause specific information has been added, you will still find all the great things you have come to love about this monthly publication.  We hope you find great opportunities to connect with your family and with other families in the community! All events are FREE unless noted otherwise!



   Who are we? 
Pause is committed to assisting families of children with physical, mental, developmental, medical, behavioral or learning challenges, access to a broad range of support options by maximizing the use of community resources and family support networks.  Let us care for your child while you get a break! Your child will be paired with a buddy whose main job is to spend quality time having fun and caring for them. We will have snacks, do craft projects, play games and more! This event is for all children with special needs and their siblings. We ensure that every buddy is equipped with the knowledge and tools to provide the best care possible for your child. Buddies either have extensive experience working with special needs children or attend an orientation specially designed for volunteer caregivers.

CURRENT EVENTS 
The holiday season begins in Olde West Chester on Saturday, November 12th. Festivities include a Christmas walk, parade and community tree lighting.There will be food vendors, crafts and a chance to visit with Santa.The West Chester Fire Department will have an open house from 4:30 -6:30PM during the walk, where you can take a tour of the station, talk with firefighters and enjoy refreshments.The holiday parade will begin at 7PM and runs along Cincinnati-Dayton Road to the West Chester Township Administration Building where the community tree lighting will take place around 8PM.

Run, walk, push, pull, roll or be rolled at this family fun 5K - IT'S ALL GOOD!  Being Together is what matters most. See event website for race registration.



Led by NPR classical music correspondent and violist, Miles Hoffman, the American Chamber Players is comprised of award-winning musicians passionate about performing repertoire ranging from familiar masterpieces to neglected gems to newly commissioned American works. While their fascinating programs feature a variety of instrumental combinations, their playing is always excellent.
 


Learn about the legend of Johnny Appleseed. This exciting talk by William Kerrigan will cover the life of the "real" Johnny Appleseed discussing fact from myth, and revealing his extraordinary story. This talk is free and open to the public, and will be followed by a reception and book signing by the Author, William Kerrigan.


November 26-17: Christmas in the Country
Shandon, Ohio's first Welsh settlement, celebrates its annual old-fashioned Christmas in the Country in downtown Shandon and at St. Aloysius Church on Chapel Rd. There will be food, music, antiques, crafts and free horse drawn carriage rides. Welsh cakes and other home cooked food, as well as arts and crafts, will be at St. Aloysius Church on Chapel road and at the Shandon Congregational Church's Community House in downtown Shandon. The historic local shops will be open with antiques and collectibles, furniture, country crafts and Alpaca products. Welsh Cakes will be available at many locations. Visit Santa Claus in the Old Fire House (11AM-3PM Saturday 1PM-3PM Sunday). Stroll through the old Welsh Cemetery, take a ride on a carriage and warm up with hot drinks and homemade food.
