Donate to Goodwill - help people with disabilities!

The Butler County Board of Developmental Disabilities and Goodwill are partnering up to double the impact of donations. Working together, we can make a difference!

Clean out your garage, basement, or closets and donate to the Goodwill locations in Fairfield, West Chester, Middletown and Oxford. Drop off items to the Goodwill locations and submit a BCBDD donation ticket (Here) with your items. When you do this, vouchers are accumulated and given to individuals with developmental disabilities so they can buy items needed to live and work successfully in the community.

PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT
Butler County awarded $667,000 grant to assist low-income families.
SELF was selected to be the lead organization of the 17-member Butler County Healthier Buckeye Council and coordinated a $667,994 one-year grant request with multiple Butler County agencies. While the council was designated by the Butler County Commissioners in April of this year, SELF, the BCESC and Butler County Jobs & Family Services and members of the Butler County Bridges Out of Poverty Coalition (comprised of 50 faith, government, healthcare, judicial and social services organizations) have been working together for the past year to help design & refine some concepts needed to help move more people out of poverty.  Ohio Healthier Buckeye funding provides an opportunity for the Butler County community to work together to design and build a broader bridge out of poverty where partners will be able to better educate, empower and encompass our clients and community in a new model for sustained self-sufficiency. The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program
The primary objective of the CDBG Program is the development of viable urban communities. This objective is achieved by providing decent housing, a suitable living environment, and expanded economic opportunities, principally for persons of low and moderate income. The 2017 CDBG & HOME Applications are now available for jurisdictions and non-profits serving Butler County Residents.

QPR  for Suicide Prevention
QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer - the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. QPR can be learned in our Gatekeeper course in as little as one hour. Interested in going through a FREE Gatekeeper training for yourself, your school or organization? Contact Lauren Perry at perryl@bcesc.org.

Butler County NAMI Walk
