The Pause program, an initiative of the Family and Children First Council has acquired the creation and distribution of the Family Connections E-Newsletter as part of our commitment to resource families in Butler County. While Pause specific information has been added, you will still find all the great things you have come to love about this monthly publication. We hope you find great opportunities to connect with your family and with other families in the community! All events are FREE unless noted otherwise!

Pause is committed to assisting families of children with physical, mental, developmental, medical, behavioral or learning challenges, access to a broad range of support options by maximizing the use of community resources and family support networks. On the current menu of options, Pause provides: respite, free family fun events, caregiver networking/resourcing and community service events to help families with tangible needs. CITY BBQ FUNDRAISER
Monday, August 22 from 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm
COME ONE, COME ALL! This event is MORE THAN JUST DINNER! Join us for this AMAZING opportunity to be part of a permanent mural that will hang in West Chester (VOA) City BBQ store! Children will have the opportunity to paint one of the 30 wooden pieces that together will make up the huge display. Pause and the participating children will be included in a picture plaque that will also be displayed.
Who: EVERYONE -- families, volunteers, community members and more!
Where: City BBQ -- West Chester store
What: All of the proceeds (25% of sales) will be used to support Parent's Night Out and Family fun events all year!

CURRENT EVENTS
August 6 to August 7: Sunbonnet Days
History comes to life at this year's Sunbonnet Days. This year's free event features live music, vintage baseball games, guided tours of the Elisha Morgan Mansion and the Heritage Gardens and children's activities. Exhibits feature antique farm machinery and equipment, broom manufacturing, and Symmes Corner from 1808 - 1955. The Blackbottom 9 take on Rising Sun Belle River at 2:00 p.m. each day to showcase baseball as it was played in the 1800s.
Experience a day of classic car fun in Middletown, Ohio! Enjoy live music from On The Air Entertainment, local food, drinks and fun. For cruise-in partipants there will be dash plaques for the first 50 cars and a custom varsity jacket for the Peoples Choice Award.
Enjoy family-friendly activities and themed characters in the Park & the Square at Liberty Center. Feel free to dress as your favorite super hero!
Kids young and old can touch, honk, and climb on the many vehicles that will be on display during Touch A Truck. Participants include Kona Ice, Ohio Army National Guard, Butler County Soil and Water District, Mike's Mobile Veterinary Clinic, the Lane Library Bookmobile and many vehicles from the City of Fairfield's fleet.
Over 35 food trucks from all over the region are ready to serve you BBQ, gelato, grilled cheese, waffles and many other creative menu items! Don't miss out on delicious food, live music and more.
For two days only, the world's largest and most exciting Model Air Show will fly high in Butler County. Join in on the fun at this Model Aeronautics Extravaganza, great for the entire family. A full scale static display will be available for viewing, and airplane rides will be available.
Visit the wonderful world of chocolate. Find out the history of chocolate, discover where it is grown, explore how it is processed and taste the final result. Following the talk they will spend some time showing games that were played by children in the 1800s.
Visit Fairfield and help celebrate freedom, our nation's heroes and their families. This is a free concert featuring local and regional bands, and is open to the public. All proceeds from the Music Festival will be used to further the Honor and Remember Mission.
Join the Fitton Center for Creative Arts for the Season Launch open house! This popular and free event showcases the new and exciting things coming to the Fitton Center. The evening includes live music by River City, appetizers, membership discounts, class demonstrations, cash bar, exhibition openings and you'll be able to watch the dragon boat racing from the Riverview Terrace. See what the Fitton Center is all about this August!
Head to Hanover Winery for food, fun and wine tastings! Live music by the Jim Burns Band 3:30P.M. - 6:30P.M followed by the White Brothers (Jared White) playing 7:00P.M. - 10:00P.M. Food by J. Damon's WoodFired Pizza.
It's time for the Middletown ColorU 5K. Run, walk or dance your way through color stations! You're the canvas, and bright colors will tie-dye your outfit along the course. Tutus, accessories, costumes...the more wild and creative the better! Register today!
Get ready for an exciting day of Dragon Boat racing! Dragon Boat racing is an ancient Chinese tradition that involves racing 40 foot canoe-like boats. Enjoy the excitement of the competition, and all of the activities taking place at RiversEdge Amphitheater. Event benefits Cincinnati Children's Hospital Sports Medicine Department and Great Miami Rowing Center's Water Access Project.
Rev your engines! Join The WEB Extreme Entertainment for their 3rd Annual Summer Car show! The Super 60s Ford Car Club will be a big part of this year's car show. Enjoy door prizes, split the pot and an awards presentation at 4PM.
