Forum on Families & Children

Research shows the most powerful protective factor in a young persons life is feeling close to at least one adult. To learn more on how develop impactful relationships with young people and empower families please join us and national speaker Jim Conway from the Search Institute for two exciting FREE workshops on June 1, 2016.

The Developmental Relationships Workshop: Creating Connections That Help Kids Thrive
9:00am - 12:00 pm
Relationships are too important to leave to chance. Educational success & social-emotional development blossom when caring adults & supportive peers are present in young people's lives.
Who should attend: Parenting and family life educators, family involvement coordinators, teachers and school administrators, social service providers, adults that work directly with youth, staff from family serving organizations, members of collective impact partnerships and other community coalitions, Peer Partners or mentors (High school ages and up), faith organizations or leaders, etc.

1:30pm - 4:30 pm
Too much of today's conversation about families is about what's wrong with them: failures and problems, vulnerabilities and stresses, or whether certain types of families are better than others. While the challenges and changes facing families are real, a strength-based approach to engaging, supporting, and empowering families helps them to cope and even thrive.
Who should attend: Parenting and family life educators, family involvement coordinators, teachers and school administrators, social service providers, youth workers, staff from family-serving organizations, members of collective impact partnerships and other community coalitions, faith organizations or leaders, etc.
