Meaningful Use Services Reminder!

We've partnered with Health Data Specialists (HDS) to provide MU services to Connections members. Each participating health center may choose from four service offerings. The grant will pay for one service and the associated travel costs per health center. Additional services may be chosen at a reduced rate, but these will be billed to your health center.

Please review the HDS Service Offerings document describing the four services available. Estimated time commitments are included.

If you have not already done so, please email Terri Kennedy at terri.kennedy@synovim.org by Friday, February 20th to indicate which service you prefer or with questions about the offerings. Two optional webinars will be held in early March to review the services. Invitations will be sent out soon. We plan to begin work in April.

Important Information about Attesting to Meaningful Use

  • If your eligible professional(s) registered with KDHE to attest to MU Stage 2 in 2014 but are no longer planning to attest to MU Stage 2 in 2014, you need to send an email to KDHE's Mike McPherson (MMcPherson@kdheks.gov) stating that their reporting period has changed and what the new reporting period will be. We recommend sending the email prior to February 28 so you're within 60 days of the start of the full year reporting period.
  • "Under changes made in the Stage 2 Final Rule, providers within the same organization that use the same certified EHR technology and share a network for which their organization either has operational control of or license to use can conduct one test or one single effort to register and onboard that covers all providers in the organization." (CMS FAQ 3819)
  • If an eligible professional practices in multiple locations that have a CEHRT, even if the majority of their encounters are at their primary clinic, the MU Stage 2 Final Rule states "If CEHRT is available at multiple locations that collectively represent 50% or more of the EP's patient encounters, then all encounters from those locations would be included in meaningful use." (CMS FAQ 3609)
