Learn More about the Protect Electronic Health Information Core Objective

*The security risk analysis must be completed prior to attestation. Review FAQ #10754, and learn more about this meaningful use requirement below.

If you are a provider participating in the EHR Incentive Programs, conducting or reviewing a security risk analysis is required to meet Stage 1 and Stage 2 of meaningful use.

New CMS Guidance for When to Complete a Security Risk Analysis

A security risk analysis needs to be conducted or reviewed during each program year for Stage 1 and Stage 2. These steps may be completed outside OR during the EHR reporting period timeframe, but must take place no earlier than the start of the EHR reporting year and no later than the date the provider submits their attestation for that EHR reporting period.

For example, an eligible professional who is reporting for a 90-day EHR reporting period in 2014 may complete the appropriate security risk analysis requirements outside of this 90-day period as long as it is completed between January 1st of the EHR reporting year and no later than the date the eligible professional submits the attestation for that EHR reporting period. For more information, read the updated FAQ.

NACHC EHR User Groups

NACHC supports several EHR user groups for health centers that utilize specific EHR programs including NextGen, eClinicalWorks, SuccessEHS and Dentrix. They provide a vehicle for health centers to meet and discuss common issues, learn about new features and functionality, share experiences and gain valuable insight on lessons learned and best practices.

NACHC provides support via WebEx, conference calls, and meeting space at our major conferences, but does not run the groups. Health center staff chair the groups on a voluntary basis. EHR vendors are requested to join at the pleasure of the chairs.

The next NACHC eClinicalWorks User Group meeting is scheduled for Monday, December 8 at 11:00 CST.  Click here to register for this meeting.
