March/2013

It has been a great holiday weekend so far. Our friends Butch and Deb have been here since Thursday Night and no one has threatened to kill anyone so far. That makes for a great visit.

Thursday we had a spectacular meal at Hanna's. I chose a small filet as only Hanna's can do accompanied by some sweet lobster tail drowning in a cheesy risotto. Dennis, Jerene, Mike, and Patti joined us for a really nice evening.

Friday was one of the most relaxing days we have seen since we made the offer on the house. I worked with Butch on how to use his new mini iPad. Although it is extremely intuitive, Butch was very comfortable with his PC world so there were some early learning issues to over come.

With a few short weeks, we were enjoying the device. Did I say weeks? Well it was only a couple of hours. It may have felt like weeks.

Then we visited our new pool. The water was 89 degrees and we all got our fair share of sun and relaxation. It was nice to see Devin just floating in the pool for more than an hour.

I eventually had enough sun and fun and went to the vineyard to check on my babies. The Chardonnay was exploding with new growth. As I walked the balance of the vineyard I was very concerned as neither the Cabernet or the Merlot (I spit on Merlot) had much if any signs of life at first glance.

As I fondled each trunk, I could see tiny buds on 70 percent of the still surviving vines. If they blossom like the Chards, I believe we might have a chance for a harvest this year. Wouldn't it be cool to offer my readers a bottle of wine from our vineyard.  )Shipping and handling charges may apply)

Antonio, who has done most of the heavy lifting, has a huge pile of prunings to chip. Perhaps we can get to that next week.

My buddy Ben was giving me hard time about teasing southerners (apparently he thinks he is one now?) about distilling. I am in serious need of some advice for distilling so if you really know how, drop me a note.

Devin ended up making a really nice pasta dinner for our Good Friday meal. We all enjoyed some Veranda Time and Bocce Ball before dinner. The girls beat the guys, then we sent them into the house to get dinner on the table. (Hope she is not reading this. . . .)

It was a good day.

Today, we got up relatively early and made our way to The San Diego Wild Animal Park. We had a gang with us and we took one of those Caravan Safari trips and we fed the giraffes and rhinos. There are some really crazy photos of all of us and once they are downloaded, we will share a few.

Kudos to Kelly who unbeknownst to me had a fear of large animals, and yet she bit the bullet and fed giraffes and rhinos with only a few squeamish yells.

Our venture today ended with a desperate search for food. After several valiant attempts, we ended up in a Mexican restaurant where we all enjoyed Cadillac Margaritas and way too much Mexican food. Butch and Deb were our hosts for the night. Thank you.

We hope you and yours has a wonderful amazing Easter. Remember what the good Lord said at the last supper, "If you guys want to be in the picture, get on this side of the table."

BAGAKOAA;

I am not a professional investment adviser. Anybody reading my blog and investing accordingly must be out of their minds. I have made more money than I have lost. Except for a nasty VXX trade is 2012.   There are many more qualified people than I to actually tell you how to invest your money.
