You all know how I love visiting doctors' offices. Today, I had an appointment with Salt Lake Ortho, to have a look at my hand. It was so nice just to have him cut it loose and breathe. (Yes you read that right, he, the doctor himself, cut the splinting away. I love Utah.)
We then discussed my options. I could wait and head back to California and wait 3-5 weeks to see doctors and get scheduled for surgery, or they got get me into surgery tomorrow morning. Easy call.
I will have surgery tomorrow morning. Doc showed me the xray and told me how they will go in through the back of my hand, remove all the splintered bones (I am going to see if I can keep a few for a charm bracelet), screw and tie the cracked bones, and apply a small plate as the crack had rotated my pinky sideways.
After that thorough explanation, he had me set up for surgery. I asked if he wanted to re-splint my hand for the night. He asked me if I wanted re-splinted and I said not really. He said, "Ok, after all what are going to do? Break your hand?" What a kidder.
He is a great doctor and you really should haul off and punch something hard, leading with your pinky, so you can meet Doctor V.
So I am typing this blog all by myself now that I am not encumbered by the huge splint.
We only have a few more days left here in Utah. Devin was going to ski tomorrow, but she insists on being with me for the surgery. She is funny that way. Hopefully I will be convalesced enough for her to hit the slopes on Friday.
Jack got the GoPro camera for action video for Christmas. He brought it with him yesterday while Devin and he were skiing. I got to see the first videos and they are way cool. The link will be up and running in a day or so.
As you might imagine, I will not be posting for a couple of delays as a result of them fileting my hand open. Of course if my drugs are really good tomorrow, I might post anyway.
