December/2012

So we made it up here (Utah) to a beautiful blanket of snow.  As I start this post, it is about 18 degrees with a chill factor that is making hard for me to stand outside.  I usually enjoy a nightcap while sitting on our deck (which I had to shovel), but this might be a night to focus on the blog and get some rest.

I am also typing this rather slowly as I believe my right hand is broken.  A solid door got in the way of my fist the other night and I am sure I cracked my hand.  So every letter is excruciating, but I love you all that much I will suffer through it.

Doyle, one of our readers asked why don't I use Dragon Speak so I don't have to type.  That is a good idea, but I am typing this on a new Mac that we just bought and I do not have all the toys downloaded yet.

The trip here was broken up over two days and it was easier driving, but not really restful.  We had our four dogs and Kristin's new puppy Ellay.  That made sleeping a bit of a challenge as I think we were in a queen bed last night and no one got a good night sleep.

I eventually went into the living room about 2:30am and tied to sleep on the couch.  The last time I saw the clock, it was 4:37.

We got on the road by 9:30 and arrived here about 4:30, 5:30 Utah time.  After unpacking, shoveling, hooking up the Mac, Devin, Jack, and I had Mac and Cheese and a Ham sandwich.  Life is Good.

Devin twisted my arm into having a scotch and we watched the CMA Music Christmas Special.  I was going good till I watched Keith Urban play his classic Fender Telecaster.  I will burn mine when I get home.  He is a very talented player.

From Today's News You Can Loose

Michelle Healy In today's USA Today, reported that family squabbles between family members (especially siblings) may not be harmless.

Apparently, The University of Missouri researched this subject.  (Do I have any readers who are alumnus?  We'll there is only one way to find out.)  Come on people, really.  Picking on your bother and sister may be harmful?  Dah!  Why else would you do it?  Ok it's a bit fun.

My brother and I dearly remember the day mom said he had to go with me somewhere and he laughed at me.  I did what any other 16 year old 7 year older brother would do.  I picked him up and tried to commit fratricide.

It was going amazing well till Mom clawed at the back of my neck to get me stop.  My sister were routine me on, so I would have had at least two visitors in prison.

But really, they had to spend money researching this?  Not to worry there was grant money from The US Department of Health and Human Services so we all helped with this one.  Heck yah tax me some more.

Invest In Karma

It's late and I don't want to have to load a bunch of Java Applets to get my charts and Schwab to work right so instead of boring you with some Wall Street Blah Blah, I will give you an investment tip guaranteed to give you many happy returns.

The Hindu and Sikh religions have a believe in the eternal circle of giving and getting good.  (All my Christian friends and family are whining right now as they too have a "do on to your brother . . " concept that is similar.)  I just like the word Karma.  What ever it is, it is a powerful concept and one Devin and I believe in.

So we have a few days before Christmas, and if you have not already done so, try investing in your Karma.  It is like a game of sorts.  Today, as I was making a U-turn in beautiful downtown Mesquite Nevada, when this guy started making his was towards me.

He did not know Devin was across the street with her new 7,000 pound GMC Yukon, revving her engine ready to take the poor soul out if he did anything suspicious.  He asked me for help.

Now in the Karma game, once they ask for help, you do not get as much Karma Energy points as helping someone before thy ask.  This dude caught me off guard.

I asked how I could help, and with the sound of Devin's engine revving in the back round he explained he got stuck there in Mesquite and hadn't eaten in while.  Now I handed him some money and yes, I know some of you are saying, "Brian he is just going to go to the casino and put it in the poker machines."

So he might, but maybe he will get a bite to eat before hand.  As I mentioned, doing the deed without being asked gets you a lot more Karma energy that when you are asked.  Try one of these.

Next time you are in the fast food drive through, look behind you.  If it's a family that appears to be in need, pay for their lunch.  It will freak them out and you get gobs of Karma energy.  Carry some grocery store gift cards with you and help an elderly person with their groceries and drop the card in one of their bags.  They will find it and have no idea where it came from.  Bonus Karma Points.

You all got a few days before this big holiday, a holiday of giving.  Invest in some Karma investing and I promise you will see a return that will amaze you.
