The construction crew is moving quicker than expected. They tell us the elementary parking lot should be ready for paving by Monday, February 29th. They have asked that we "shut down" the parking lot closest to the football field BY THE END OF TODAY so they can work all weekend installing pumps and piping under the property to correct our drainage issues prior to grading the parking area. What does this mean for Junior Mustangs flag football, baseball, track, and all of the seniors and faculty who currently use or park in that area?
1. The construction crew is installing a temporary road leading through the first row of the senior/faculty parking lot. They are closing off the turn around loop closest to the softball field and the current entrance into the senior/faculty parking area. Seniors will be awarded the privilege of parking in the 45 parking spaces remaining in the portion of the senior/faculty parking lot not closed down. All NCS faculty and staff will be directed down this first row of spaces to the back of the property where they will park on the grass. We expect this temporary arrangement to last 2-3 weeks.
2. Junior Mustang flag football parents will also use this first row of parking spaces on Saturday mornings. Any overflow will probably want to park in the back of our property on the grass because THE ONLY ENTRANCE TO THE TRACK AND FOOTBALL FIELD will be the paved drive closest to Joe's Creek where the ambulance usually parks during a Friday night football game. The football practice field is no longer available for Junior Mustang flag football. It is now considered a construction site.
3. All Baseball players, track athletes, and spectators will also be asked to access the track and the baseball field using the entrance closest to Joe's Creek. Everyone is asked to walk along the elevated sidewalk to the baseball and track bleachers. The current main entrance to the track and baseball fields will not be accessible.
4. Tuesday and Thursday of next week we have two major track meets on our campus. Both meets will have 10-12 schools represented on our campus so it was too late to change plans for so many schools. Therefore, Tuesday and Thursday morning ALL NCS students (including seniors) will be directed to park in a temporary parking lot we are creating on the current football practice field. We will be removing a portion of the fence so students can enter directly off 62nd Avenue North. Teachers will continue to use the temporary road through the current MS/HS parking lot leading to the back of the property.
5. We are also releasing 7th-12th grade students at 2:30pm on Thursday, February 25th so they can leave campus and open up more parking. The 4pm softball game scheduled for Thursday, February 25th is being moved to Shorecrest Prepartory School to allow spectators parking in the temporary parking area to walk through the softball field, avoiding the construction zone, on their way to the track and baseball fields.
Again, we apologize for the inconvenience you will experience over the next 2-3 weeks, but we are thrilled with the progress Pepper is making and we were excited to accommodate their request to push up the construction timeline to finish the job quicker.
