Parking Lot Update
Construction resumes February 15th. We will complete the preschool/elementary parking area first before moving on to the new MS/HS Entrance and then the senior/faculty parking lot closest to the football field. Thank you for your patience. We have been told that this next phase of construction should proceed much quicker than Phase One.

New Technology in the Elementary School
Thanks to a generous donation by one of our elementary school families, the elementary school has received the following technology upgrades: 150 iPads providing our students a 2 to 1 iPad ratio in every elementary classroom, smartboards in preschool and resource classrooms, and two active tables in kindergarten. The active tables have brought learning in kindergarten to a higher level.

Lisa Jones Update
Ms. Jones continues to work with the therapists as they strive to wean her off of the ventilator. She is able to communicate more and this will help her progress tremendously. Physical therapy is working on strengthening her legs and arms and they are having her sit up and stand as much as she can tolerate. Some days are better than others and this is to be expected. Still a long way to go, but each day is closer to getting Ms. Jones back to us. Ms. Jones' mom has been reading the cards so many have sent and this is such an encouragement to both Ms. Jones and her parents. Continue to pray for her stamina and strength. If you would like to give money to help cover some of Ms. Jones' expenses, simply click on her picture located on the home page of www.nck12.com. Thank you for your prayers!

This Week in Mustang Athletics

Girls Basketball
The Lady Mustangs won their 14th game of season beating St. Pete Catholic 34 to 20 in quarter finals of District play. Junior Allison Quintin had a career high 10 points to lead the Lady Mustangs to victory. Freshman Jocelyn Alonso played amazing defense and chipped in with 8 points.

Softball
The Lady Mustangs enjoyed their first win of the season against district and Bay Conference opponent, Bradenton Christian School on Tuesday. The Ladies finished with a 4-1 victory. Darbie Atkinson collected three hits, sparking Mustangs to a 4-1 victory in seven innings over Bradenton Christian on Tuesday at Bradenton Christian. She tripled in the first inning and singled in the third and seventh innings. Jordyn Counts's seven strikeouts helped Mustangs to the victory. Counts allowed no earned runs, six hits and one walk over seven innings.

Baseball
The varsity baseball team opened their season hosting the 5th Annual Ernie Taylor Classic. The team played Dixie Hollins High School led by former Mustang pitching coach Chase Newman. The game was tied at 0 until the bottom of the sixth when Sophomore Jonathan Alonso drove in Ty McGeehan on a sacrifice fly to left. Senior Hunter Flack started on the mound and pitched 4 1/3. Sophomore Aaron Anderson picked up the win pitching 1 1/3. Corey Yawn picked up the save throwing just 6 pitches to retire the Rebels in the top of the seventh.

Boys Basketball
The MS Boys Basketball team competed in the St. Pete Christian tournament with one win and two losses. All three games were within three point each with our team having the potential go ahead shot in the final minute of every game. Austin Littrell had a monster tournament scoring a total 58 points in all three games. Skyler Scull, Blake Jagger, Joel Bolds, Sam Lameyer and Elijah Baptist handled the dribbling and press break responsibilities extremely well. Alec Johnson had at least 15 blocks in the tournament. This team exhibited exceptional sportsmanship in the tournament and throughout the season. Northside Christian parents, fans and coaches are very proud of them.
