Dear Northside Christian School Parents,
We are thrilled to announce the opening of our new paved driveway, but understanding, patience, and caution are essential for the new traffic pattern beginning Tuesday, January 12th. There are several important procedures that you will want to be aware of so that our students are safe and that the carline experience will run smoothly.
Preschool AM/PM
- In the morning, parents must park and walk their child to the Preschool building and sign them in.
- A designated parking area in front of the gym is noted by signage for parents of preschool children to use.
- In the afternoon, parents must park and come to the Preschool and check-out their child.
K-6th Grade Morning Drop-Off
- The intersection of Westchester and 62nd Avenue will now be a 3-way stop. For a period of time, NCS staff will help monitor the am/pm traffic flow at this intersection.
- The new elementary driveway will open at 7:30 a.m. and only the lane closest to the curb will be utilized during drop-off. After driving up to the furthest designated spot, please have your children exit your vehicle on the side closest to the curb.
- If students arrive before 8:00, students in grades K-4th will travel on the newly created sidewalk between the preschool building and the Music portable and go directly to the gym. Students in 5th and 6th grades may have the privilege of dropping off their instruments and backpacks outside their classrooms before going to the gym.
- If K-6 students arrive between 8:00 and 8:10, they will go directly to their classrooms.
- Patrols will continue to be available to help our younger elementary students get to their destination.
- Carline closes at 8:10 as classes begin. Therefore if you arrive after 8:10, you MUST park in the front parking lot, obtain a late pass at the Elementary Office, and then walk your child to class.
K-6th Grade Afternoon Pick-Up
- During the construction time, we allowed carline to begin early so that congestion would not be an issue. However, we now return to our school hours of 8:10-3:00. We recommend that you not arrive before 2:45 as we will not begin afternoon carline until 2:55. We will utilize the procedures from last year in which students remain in their classrooms until their name is called for carline. Our kindergarten students will be moved into the Music Portable for dismissal because of its proximity to the new driveway.
- The entrance driveway is a single lane. However, it becomes two lanes near the "turn-about". It will be important to be in the lane you wish to exit from. The left lane will exit to Westchester and the right lane will exit west on 62nd Avenue. In the afternoon teachers will be putting students into both lanes of cars.
- Please make sure that your car tag continues being visible!
- We still will allow students to go directly to Aftercare if parents have indicated that in the daily agenda. If a student goes to Aftercare and a parent comes through carline, the parent will be directed to park and go to aftercare to sign out their child.
7th-12th Grade AM/PM Pattern
- We will return to the original pattern using only the lane closest to the curb in front of the gym and HS building for drop-offs and pick-ups.
PARKING LOT UPDATE.....
- Within the next two weeks, Duke Energy is scheduled to install underground wiring for the parking lot lights. The phasing of wiring will be coordinated with finishing the parking lot in front of the elementary building before proceeding to the far west side of the parking lot (where faculty currently park) to continue construction.
