Rotunno's Reflections
All surgeries come with some level of concern. So, before having back surgery this summer, I did my share of research to determine this was a risk I was willing to take. What I hadn't planned on was the risk that is associated with the recovery time. I'm not talking about trying to lift, twist, or bend too soon. I'm talking about the risk of lying in bed for 3 weeks with a remote control and credit card in my hand. Working full time for most of my life left little time to watch infomercials and HGTV, but I'm pretty sure I made up for it during this summer. Oh, I was mesmerized by the promises that my life would be easier, my house would be cleaner, and that world peace could be attained by purchasing the right kitchen utensils. Some of the promises that came with my new merchandise held true. My Shark Steam Cleaner and the New Wave Oven are hits in our house. The Mr.Sticky Lint Roller, and the Miracle Cream that declared that it was possible for me to look 20 years younger...not so much. I found that there were very few promises I could believe.
"Trusted, tried, and true," is a pretty aspiring theme to set before our Northside school families. I hope we never let anyone down; I hope we "deliver" all we aim to...but if you want a sure thing...if you want to be able to trust someone with complete confidence, you can only look to the Lord. With over 3,000 promises in the Bible, He will never let you down. What He says He will do, He does. What He says will happen, happens. It's that simple. He delivers on every promise He makes. In our own strength, it would be hard to be trusted, tried, and true all the time. But Philippians 4:13 tells us that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. And that's a promise you can believe.

Blessings,
Mrs. Rotunno
