Parking Lot Update

Duke Energy was on campus this week. They removed all of the light poles that were in the path of construction. A very special thank you to Hanson for donating 800 linear feet of concrete pipe and to Old Castle for donating the connecting structures. The structures, pipe, and heavy equipment should be on our campus next week in preparation for the laying of pipe and the grading and compacting which will start shortly. We apologize for the delay which has mainly been due to weather, but God's timing is perfect. Due to the rain delay, Mike Alstott and Jamie Hill were able to meet with more contractors and get more construction labor and material donated - saving our school A LOT of money. Now we just pray for the rain to stay away.

Thank You

A very special thank you to Dr. Claudia Bundschu who threw a joint birthday party for her son Ian in 9th grade at NCS and herself this past weekend. All party guests were asked to give money for the Fine Arts Hawaii Trip instead of buying birthday gifts for Ian and Claudia. The party raised more than $4,800 for the Fine Arts department. Happy Birthday Ian and Claudia!

Auction Information

Our next auction planning meeting is Wednesday, September 23rd at 1:30pm in Room 110 (HS Hallway). We need more parent volunteers. Our greatest need is for a parent(s) to step up and volunteer to coordinate the class projects for Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and 4th grades. If you are interested in overseeing a class project for one of these grades, please call or email Tessa.Madasz@nck12.com.  Don't forget to turn in your item for your class basket. All basket items are due before October 15th. Currently Mrs. Cooke's class is in the lead for elementary and Ms. Jones' class is leading in the upper grades.

Congratulations

Junior Natalie Chapman was selected by The Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) to be a member of the 2015-2016 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, a group that will provide the FHSAA perspectives from the student-athletes it serves along with ideas to implement change. Sixteen students were selected to represent the student-athletes of the state and come from places across the state from the Panhandle to the Keys. The students selected for this committee not only embody what it means to be a good student-athlete, but also strong leaders.

You Are Invited

Northside Baptist Church would like to extend an invitation to all of our school families who are not affiliated with another church to join us on two special occasions in the month of September.

On September 20, we are celebrating National Back to Church Sunday, and invite you and your family to simply take the morning to come back to church. Often our lives get so busy, we can overlook the importance of just stopping and taking time to reflect on what's truly important. God loves you and desires a relationship with you. Spending time in His house is one way to build that relationship. So, please consider this a personal invitation to join us on this celebratory morning as we take time out of all of our busy schedules to slow down and focus on Him! Hebrews 10:24-25

The following Sunday on September 27, Northside Baptist Church hosts NCS Sunday, a worship service led by the staff and students of Northside Christian School. We invite you again to join us in worshipping God together, as we join hands with our awesome school, and give God all the glory because He is worthy of our praise. On any Sunday, we offer a 9AM traditional service and a 10:30AM contemporary service - while music styles/preferences may differ, we seek to worship and honor God in all! Ephesians 5:19-20

Special thanks to The Anderson Family and ARS Wealth Builders for their continued support of Mustang Athletics

Football

On a day that had very strong patriotic undertones, the Northside Christian Varsity Football debuted new red jerseys paired with the blue pants and white helmets and socks to show remembrance to all of those affected by that day eleven years prior.

Once the game got underway, the Mustangs overcame a slow start to beat defending 2A state champions Victory Christian. The team committed 17 penalties in the game and trailed 12-6 at halftime but rallied in the 2nd half to win by a score of 20-12.

Sr. Josh Snead ground out 96 yards on 19 rushes and also scored two touchdowns. Jr. DJ Jackson led the receivers with four catches for 66 yards.

The Mustangs hit the road for the third time in this short season, this time to Winter Garden to face Foundation Academy. Those wanting to attend the game tonight should note that the field is not on the school campus. The field address is:  420 S. Park Ave, Winter Garden, FL 34787.  Kick-off is set for 7:00 pm.

MS Football

Austin Littrell was just moved to Full Back from Center and he scored on a nice 62 yard touchdown run up the middle on our 2nd series. This is his first touchdown as a Mustang! Tre Gilliam, Joel Bolds, and Cole Rogers helped him handle the ball carries in the game. Austin finished up with 106 rushing yards in his first game at FB. Hayden Zepp moved over to start at Center in only his 3rd game of organized tackle football. He is a promising young 6th grader. Jack Feldman was also promoted to starter at Right Guard and played very well in his 1st game as a starter!

The defense turned in our first safety of the season, with Tre Gilliam making a clutch play, coming up from safety to make the stop. Everett Earle and Zach Early helped with constant pressure up front for the defense which played tough the whole game. Logan Brown, Cole Rogers, and Matthew Borrelli played linebacker making several nice tackles in the game. Blake Jagger and Joel Bolds both played strong against the run from their cornerback positions.
Tough loss for the team, final score was 27-10 in their favor.

5th Quarter - d
efense was first on the field and Matthew Borrelli was again flying around making tackles. Vladimir Johnson also made plays including hustling to make a down field touchdown saving tackle! Chaz Callahan did a great job creating havoc in their backfield from the defensive end position too. Offense continues to improve. AJ Jackson got the running game going and ran the ball pretty well. We saw improved blocking from the young offensive line too. Blake Jagger, Riley White, and Logan Brown carried the ball. Cole Rogers scored a touchdown on the last play from scrimmage with a nifty run to the left side.

Volleyball

Varsity Volleyball defeated St Stephens yesterday in 3 sets.

JV Volleyball lost to St. Stephens 1-2.

Cross Country

The Boys and Girls Cross Country teams stayed at home and hosted the Northside Christian Postal 2 miler on the Northside Track. Once the storms cleared, it was a beautiful morning of racing in this dual meet against Canterbury. The boys were led by Junior Justin Nunnamaker who placed 1st overall with a 2 mile time of 10:45. He was followed by Kyle Jackson, Sam Lameyer, Simari Turner and 6th grader Skyler Scull. The girls were led by overall champion Lauren Thompson with a time of 13:36. She was followed by Mara Lameyer, Kelly Kellogg, Dyi-mond Shields, and Natalie Chapman.

The Mustang Varsity teams travel to Gainesville today to compete in the Mountain Dew Invitational at the University of Florida Golf course. Start time is 10:00am for the girls and 10:30am for the boys on Saturday.

Swimming

The Swim Team has had a busy week. Last Thursday the Middle School traveled to Berkeley Prep to compete in the Middle Division Relay championships. Both the girls and boys teams finished second to Berkeley. The relay team of Jordan Bauer, Drew Withey, Robbie Blenis and Gordon Leadbetter took first place honors in the Backstroke Relay.

The Varsity Team traveled to Ft. Lauderdale this past weekend to compete in the 15th Annual Florida Christian Schools Meet. After a long van ride, we had a great team dinner at Olive Garden followed by Team Trivia and some fun pool time. The meet went well on Saturday. The Girls Team finished 4th and the Boys 5th against some large local teams. Congratulations to Savannah Barber, Ryan Menke, Robbie Blenis, and Jacob and Avery Meder who finished in the top 3 of their races.

Tuesday night the team swam against Indian Rocks Christian at Bardmoor. IRCS has a very small girls team. Northside won easily 131-33. The Boys team was a bit more competitive with some great racing. The Mustangs pulled ahead and defeated IRCS boys, 102-58. This brings both the boys and girls dual meet records to 3-1.

Next week the Middle Division swims at Northshore Pool Monday at 7 pm. Varsity swims Thursday at Bardmoor against Out of Door and then host the Tampa Bay Classic on Saturday the 26th. Come out and cheer us on !

Golf

The boys golf team had a great match with St Pete Catholic last week but came up 4 shots short of a win. The Mustangs were led by Sophomore Robby Vinson. Other golfers were Hunter Flack, Kyle Goldberg, Max Roix, Zach Brown, Caden Bullard and Grant Walsh.
Girls Golf played in the Mustang Invitational on Thursday 9/10 at Seminole Lake CC.  Senior Ryanne Jackson led the way coming in 6th place out of 50 golfers. Ryanne shot 73 which included 5 birdies on the day. Shoshanna Van Loan shot 88 and Hailey Hennessey shot 89. Both are career best for Shoshanna and Hailey. The entire team continues to improve each match.
