Update from South Africa
|
This week's message is a brief one as Dries & I are soaking up the sights, sounds, and smells of the sea at his parents' home in Franskraal. Franskraal is a small village on the Atlantic coast, east of Hermanus. By the time you read this, all of the other Westminster travelers should be nearly home or there already. Together we saw so much in a country of such diversity...of people, terrain, and nature. But we not only saw, but experienced the richness and hospitality of South Africa. However, the two of us continue to bask in the glow of family....sitting by the braai, eating lamb chops from the fire, walking beside the sea, and enjoying the birds and the flowers his parents have so patiently nurtured. This weekend we will join Dries' siblings for a few days on the west coast; Afrikaans will flow freely and so will the love.
Totsiens,
Beth & Dries

 "We are an Intentionally Inclusive Church"
Westminster Presbyterian Church embraces the "house" metaphor for our community as we worship at the Westminster Church House and have a strong sense of hospitality and desire to be a welcoming and inclusive church for all. We endeavor to give voice to a "progressive" expression of Christianity that emphasizes among other things:
- intellectual integrity in matters of faith;
- acceptance of all people regardless of race, creed, age, cultural background, or sexual orientation;
- openness toward the value of other religious traditions;
- a strong commitment to social justice, peacemaking, and the care of our planet.
Sincerely,
|
