Annual Men's Club Chicken BBQ
For the last 44 years, the Shorewood Men's Club has held their Chicken BBQ on the second Saturday in June (June 13 this year). It is one of the summer's first events and helps kick-off the many summer activities Shorewood has to offer. All money raised at the BBQ goes back to the community in the form of grants and scholarships.

The Shorewood Men's Club, a civic group founded in 1956 is a strong supporter and popular group in the Village of Shorewood. The group was originally founded as a way for men to meet, get to know neighbors and a way to give back to the community. Please support the Shorewood Men's Club by attending their Annual Chicken BBQ at Atwater Park on Saturday, June 13 from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. There will be chicken, ribs, ice cream, beer and soda and music all day. Good food, good music and good friends - a great way to enjoy your day.

Village Property Assessments

The Village of Shorewood has contracted with Accurate Appraisal, LLC to conduct property assessment work for 2015-2017.  Accurate Appraisal has over 15 years of experience and currently works with 98 Wisconsin municipalities on assessments.

This year, Accurate Appraisal will physically view only new constructions and remodels as well as those properties whose owners have requested a walk-through. These field inspections will occur at the end of June and early July. For the most part, the revaluation will be done using the previous assessor's data. If Accurate is going to visit your property this year, you will receive a postcard prior to the start of fieldwork. A visit takes approximately 20 minutes. All of Accurate Appraisal's assessors will carry identification and drive marked vehicles.

Value change notices will be sent mid-July with open book meetings held on Wednesday, July 29 and Thursday, July 30 at Village Hall. Open book is an opportunity for you as property owners to:

  • address concerns with your appraisal;
  • learn how the assessment was calculated;
  • see how market activity influenced the assessment; and
  • determine how your property compares to similar properties in the neighborhood.

If you have questions regarding this process, please contact Accurate Appraisal LLC at 1.800.770.3927 or email info@accurateassessor.com .

The Village Board of Trustees have approved a change in operating hours for the Village Hall.  Effective Monday, June 15, 2015, Village Hall hours will be: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Staff looks forward to continuing to provide you with exceptional service.

"Rider vs. Driver" Commuting Challenge

We invite you to bring a picnic, and the family, for this outdoor performance on the library lawn!

Need to brush up on your Shakespeare knowledge before the performance? Check out our new editions of his most popular plays, plus books on his life and work - on display now.

Health Department Highlights

  • School will soon be out and everyone should watch their children playing outside. Parents should also teach their children safety around cars.  Children must be taught not to play around or inside cars.  Make sure children know that when an adult gets into a nearby car, they should move out of their way to a place where the driver can see them.
  • Block out the sun! Don't forget that children need just as much or more protection from the sun as you.  Excessive sun exposure in children can increase the risk of skin cancer later in life. Also, infants under 6 months should not use sun block but be shaded from the sun. For more information on this topic, please see the related article: Sun safety: how to protect your child from the greatest cause of skin cancer.
  • May 31 was World No Tobacco Day sponsored by the World Health Organization. This day highlights the health risks associated with tobacco use and encourages effective actions to reduce tobacco consumption.  For help or information on how to quit please visit the Wisconsin Quit Line or call 800-784-8669.
