Nominate Shorewood's 4th of July Grand Marshal
Honor a deserving Shorewood resident who has made significant contributions to the life of the community, usually as a volunteer, by nominating him/her as a 4th of July Grand Marshal. Grand Marshals ride, in a place of honor, in Shorewood's 4th of July parade and are recognized publicly at Atwater Park, prior to the fireworks. A letter of nomination, that includes the specifics as to why the person is being nominated, along with the contact information of the nominee and the person nominating, should be sent to: Shorewood Village Hall, 3930 N. Thinking of Building a Fence, Deck or Patio?
The most common building projects in the springtime is the construction of a fence, deck or patio. A building permit is required for these projects along with a survey marking where you plan to build. (The Village has many surveys on file, so please check with us if you do not have one.) You may not be aware that patios and decks cannot be constructed within a property's zoning setbacks, typically a minimum of three (3) feet from a properties side and rear boundaries. Patios that are located within a front yard must also be approved by the Design Review Board.
Informational brochures are available on the Village's website or in the Planning & Development Department. Contact the Planning and Development Department staff at 414.847.2640 for any building project you may be planning.

Health Tip
Think you're getting a nutritional boost from your morning cereal? Up to 40 percent of the vitamins in fortified cereals dissolve in the milk. If you don't drink the leftover cow juice, you're not getting the fancy-pants nutrients!
|
Environmental Tip
Consider reusable grocery bags. Bring them with you wherever you go in the trunk of your car and avoid the use of paper and plastic bags.
