Central District Master Plan
Shorewood is updating it's 2006 Central District Master Plan this year and is looking forward to a vibrant process among the community. The nearly eight-year old plan provided Shorewood leaders a guide for future public and private improvement and development initiatives. Part of the process will celebrate the many positive changes to Shorewood's business district since 2006.
The Village Board approved the plan update in January. Work started start immediately and the plan will be finalized in July 2014. The update will be a joint effort between staff and planning firm Vierbicher, and of course, the public. Shorewood's Community Development Authority is overseeing the project and formed a 10-person Steering Committee comprised of various representatives from the community, including a member from the School Board, a Village Board Trustee, and Business District.
The committee is anticipating a final report in July. For more information, visit the Village of Shorewood's website at www.villageofshorewood.org.

Pick and Save Block Redevelopment Presentation
There was a presentation at the Village Center for the General Capital Redevelopment Proposal on June 26, 2014. A Village Board public hearing is scheduled on July 7, 2014. Developer General Capital worked diligently to respond to public comments on the proposed Metro Market grocery store, parking deck and six story mixed use building. After over two dozen meetings with various committees, boards, neighbors, and stakeholders, the project has been refined, offering a plethora of public amenities activating the street front. Some of the public amenities include a public pedestrian arcade, outdoor seating, a planned market space, bike share, bike parking and a bike repair station. These improvements are a result of involvement from our residents.
Recent drawings are available on the Village's website at www.villageofshorewood.org, found under Community Development. Click here to view them directly. Any questions or comments may be directed to Village Manager Chris Swartz at [email protected].

Quote of the Week
"Every day is a new opportunity. You can build on yesterday's success or put its failures behind ou and start over again. That's the way life is, with a new game every day, and that's the way baseball is."

Health Tip
Drink green tea instead of sweet tea. Green tea has a natural component that helps to speed up your metabolism. Brewing tea yourself with boiling water and a tea bag is far healthier than buying prepackaged tea drinks.

Environmental Tip
Pack light on road trips. Every 100 lbs. of weight in your car lowers fuel efficiency by 2%.
