Author Visit with Kathy Reichs!
Shorewood Library, in collaboration with Boswell Books, is excited to present author Kathy Reichs! The forensic anthropologist turned bestselling author of the Temperance Brennan series - on which the FOX TV show Bones is based - and the young adult series Virals, will be at the Library on Tuesday, March 11 at 6:30 p.m., with her co-author and son Brendan Reichs to promote the latest book in the Virals series.
Reichs wrote books one and two in the series solo, but brought in her son Brendan to help with books three and four. Pick up the Virals series and you're a fan of thriller mysteries like the Temperance Brennan books, James Patterson's work, or other YA sci-fi thrillers like James Dashner's The Maze Runner or Michael Grant's Gone.

Reminders to Pet Owners
Pet licenses are required within 30 days of ownership for dogs and cats ages 5 months and older. Licenses may be obtained at Village Hall, 3930 N Murray Avenue between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Proof of rabies vaccination and verification that the animal has been spayed or neutered (if applicable) is required when licensing your pet. Extra pet licenses are also needed if you have more than two dogs, two cats or any combination totaling more than two.
Pets require a lot of maintenance and care. Pet owners are responsible for this care. They are also responsible to their neighbors and the Village of Shorewood to see that all ordinances relating to owning a pet are obeyed. No person shall walk a dog or cat beyond the limits of their own property without carrying or having in their possession a scoop, bag or item designed to pick up and remove any unwanted dog or cat excreta. It is also unlawful to dispose of the dog or cat excrement on public or private property other than the owner's own property. This includes throwing the excreta into the sewer system or neighbor's trash can.
Pets are not allowed to walk in the parks, on the beach, or any school grounds in the Village of Shorewood, even if on a leash.

Shorewood working towards a Bike Share Program Midwest Bikeshare Inc. is working to expand its service into Shorewood as well as, Wauwatosa and West Allis. Bikeshare lets people pay a membership fee to check out bikes from stations, ride them around and then return them to any other station in the system. Similar programs have been successful in cities like New York and Chicago. These three suburban communities are applying for a combined $1.5 million in federal grants, that would help to expand this project into the suburbs. The Village and Midwest Bikeshare hope to raise additional funds through private investment. Shorewood has identified about three potential station locations along East Capitol Drive, North Oakland Avenue and North Lake Drive. This program fits within Shorewood's vision of being a walkable and bikeable community and we hope to become a suburban leader in the bikeshare movement.

Song of the Month This song of the month comes from our newest employee, Tim Koepp from Planning and Development. "One of my favorite song artists is Kenny Chesney. My favorite song by this artist is "The Boys of Fall". This is a song and video that I and my son watch each year, sometimes multiple times, that helps us focus on our goals. I was a youth sports coach for about ten years, 3 of those was as a 6th grade tackle football head coach. I also played this for my team as a tribute to the game of football, get them excited to be a part of the game, and as a reminder to me as a coach to keep the game as fun as I could for the team because that is why they are here. The video is just awesome too." To view the video, click here.
