Tax Bill Information

Tax season is upon us.  As a reminder to our residents, January 31,  2014 is the deadline for timely payment of either your full 2013 real estate tax bill, or the first installment of your  2013 real estate taxes, with subsequent installments due on March 31,  2014 and May 31,  2014 to pay your taxes in full.  There are additional options to pay your taxes online to include credit cards and electronic checks. To pay your taxes online, click here. Keep in mind that both of these methods will incur a fee paid by the resident.   We thank those residents who are providing stamped, self-addressed envelopes for the return of their paid receipts, which allows staff to more expeditiously process the return of these receipts.  You may direct any questions regarding the tax bills or the tax collection process to the Village Clerk/Treasurer by phone at  414.847.2608 or by email at [email protected].

Snow and Ice Removal Program

Residents are required to remove snow and ice from their adjacent sidewalks for the entire width of the sidewalk. The Green Team will survey the Village 12 or more hours after a measurable snow event at the request of the Director of Public Works. A notice will be left on the door of delinquent properties noting they have 12 additional hours to complete snow and ice removal. The list of delinquent addresses will be given to the Police Department. If the snow and ice is not removed in a timely manner, the Green Team will return to remove the snow. The property owner will be charged a $15 fee plus snow removal charges at a rate of $50/hour. Total charges will be added to the property owners tax bill.

It is important to note that this action is in place to assure safe walking conditions for everyone. Residents are encouraged to call the Police Department at 847.2610 or email at [email protected] to report areas that are not adequately cleared.

New Years Health Tips from the North Shore Health Department

Happy New Year!  Another chance to start off doing some things differently for those of us who may want to change some of our habits.  What should I start with?  Don't try everything at once:  get up earlier, eat more fruits and vegetables, exercise more, watch less TV, stop eating sweets.  This year start with one thing you can succeed with and then move on to another and when you've mastered that, add another.

Quote of the Week

What I've learned most is that no one has a monopoly on truth or wisdom. I've learned that we make progress by listening to each other, across every apparent political or ideological divide.

Health Tip

Cover your cough or sneeze with your upper sleeve, and try to avoid touching your face with your hands. If you use a tissue, throw it away after one use, and wash your hands.

Environmental Tips

Use natural cooling and heating, when possible. Open a window in the summer or put a sweater on in the winter instead of adjusting the thermostat.
