 Leaf Collection

Leaf collection will continue for the next two weeks with the last scheduled day certain collection to be done the week of Monday, December 2 thru Friday, December 6.  During the week of Thanksgiving crews will "work ahead" into the Thursday and Friday areas early so please have piles out timely for pick-up.

If we experience significant snowfall or freezing conditions leaf collection will end and the trucks will be converted for winter operations.

Also as a reminder from the Conservation Committee, please try not to rake leaves into the street as leaf nutrients leached out by rain end up flowing into storm sewers and into our lakes and rivers.  Please rake collected piles onto the edge of the parkway.  We also want to encourage residents to mulch leaves by mowing them into their lawns.  Chopped up leaves feed lawns and reduce the need for chemical fertilizers.

Quotes of the Week

Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.

Dale Carnegie

Health Tip

When reaching for an afternoon snack, consider trying yogurt. Research suggests that that humble carton of yogurt may:

Help prevent osteoporosis

Reduce your risk of high blood pressure

Aid gastrointestinal conditions like inflammatory bowel disease and constipation

Environmental Tips

If you use gas appliances, check that your flame is blue, not yellow. A yellow flame means the gas is burning less efficiently and may require adjustment.
