The Resident Survey is Coming Soon!
In the coming weeks, you will receive a postcard in the mail inviting you to take an online survey. The purpose of this important survey is to provide the Shorewood Village Board with your perceptions and opinions about services, and current and future initiatives. Your answers will help direct Village officials as they establish policies for the type and level of services to be provided. Your input as a resident of Shorewood will serve as an important guide for the Village Board as it plans to meet the needs of Shorewood residents - now and in the future. The Village of Shorewood is working with the Center for Urban Initiatives and Research (CUIR) at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for the administration of this survey. CUIR has extensive experience working with area communities in survey research, focus groups, and planning. Keep an eye out for your survey invitation card!

All contractors working on one or two family residential homes are required to be licensed through the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services. Below is a list of sites to better help you in your search for that right contractor.
The Planning and Development Department has an internal "Contractor Stop List" that can also be inquired about at any time by calling (414) 847-2640.

Song of the Month
Recently retired public health nurse Kathleen Demien, chose a fitting song on the eve of her retirement, "Leaving on a Jet Plane" by Peter, Paul and Mary.
She said that she choose this song because it reminded her of when her boyfriend (now husband) left for the Vietnam War. For her, the song represented about all of what they both felt and experienced. |
Quotes of the Week
Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young. Henry Ford

Health Tip
Fall can be a treat for the senses: the crisp air, apple picking, pumpkin carving, a gorgeous canopy of fall foliage, and the crunch of leaves underfoot. These months are a great time to exercise outdoors and enjoy cooler temperatures. |
Environmental Tips
Before packing away those summer clothes, go through them and determine which items to keep, which items to repurpose into something else (cleaning rags, craft projects, etc.) and which to donate.
