2013 Sidewalk Program
There are approximately 60 miles of public sidewalk pavement within the Village of Shorewood. To ensure these walks remain in good condition, the Department of Public Works administers a biennial sidewalk replacement program in each of six defined areas of the Village on a rotating cycle. All public sidewalks and carriage walks in the target area are reviewed and defective areas are identified for removal and replacement.
The 2013 project area is located in the southeast area of the Village (to see map, click here.). Sidewalks which have been identified for replacement have been marked with white paint and notices of assessment have been issued to affected property owners. Public walk replacement is assessed to the adjacent private property owner at 100% of the cost (on a corner lot the secondary frontage is assessed at 50%).
Work is scheduled to begin the week of July 8th and is anticipated to be complete by late August. For more information, please visit the DPW's Construction and Infrastructure Management web page or call 414.847.2650.

Quote of the Week
Our greatest happiness does not depend on the condition of life in which chance has placed us, but is always the result of a good conscience, good health, occupation and freedom in all just pursuits.

Health Tip
Lakes, waterways, and seas will be crowded with boats. Review safe boating practices, and don't drink and drive your boat. Alcohol consumption while operating boats or other motorized water vessels is illegal, and you can be arrested for a BWI.
|
Environmental Tips
After this Fourth of July there are bound to be plenty of stray cans, bottles, streamers, plates, and forks littering streets and parks. Do yourself, your community, and the environment a favor by picking up all the leftover traces of your party and properly dispose of them, recycling all that you can.
