Summer Sun and Family Fun!

Landesign's annual company and family barbecue was accompanied by great weather and an even better turn out. Showing just how much we have grown!

Our annual employee and families celebration was held at Galvin Park in Santa Rosa. The delicious food was catered by Los Tres Chiles.

There was a surplus amount of entertainment including a clown, bouncy house, volley ball tournament, and pinata games.

Our celebration also gave us a moment to recognize individual employees for their service to the company.

Thank you Landesign employees for
 a great summer season!

Specimen Plants that Make a Statement

A drought tolerant landscape can be composed of color and vibrancy even under water restrictions. We have chosen a few showstopping plants that we adore in the landscape and allow your water bill to stay low.

These unique and vibrant plants can be used as surprising elements to add a little character and as architectural masterpieces to provide focal points.

Left to Right: Cordyline, Kniphofia, Euphorbia ' Sticks on Fire', and Agaves all  add a dramatic touch to the landscape.

Low mounding soft grasses compliment the strong vertical lines of Cordyline and the Kniphofia plumes appear as playful glowing torches in the landscape foreground.  Euphorbia 'Sticks on Fire' is a unique specimen that resembles coral and can make you do a 'double take' to its beauty.  Agaves are wonderful architectural plants and when paired with a grass massing they form a cool splash of water to the eyes.

Check out some of these plants at our latest design at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn! If in need of a new and improved drought tolerant landscape enhancement, start here and let us add some vibrancy and uniqueness to your property!

Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn Water Tower Bar

Landesign's Collaborative Landscape Design

The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn's Historic Water Tower underwent a
unique and creative transformation due to the efforts of KNA Architecture and Landesign. The iconic water tower and the space residing underneath it was once an underutilized space. With the creative vision of KNA the space was transformed into an outdoor bar and dining area.

The beautiful bar is currently being utilized for special events and the popular weekly Splash After Dark poolside party. Landesign aided in the creative vision by providing a colorful and low water use landscape design.

Landesign's Landscape Designer  Julianna Wild worked with the hospitality management staff at Fairmont to come up with an aesthetically pleasing and transitioning plant palette that accommodated the functionality of the separated spaces.

Julianna's plant choices were highly influenced by the spaces furnishing and textile choices and choose to highlight material finishes with bold plant selections.

The separated spaces called for two distinct plant palettes. One full of vibrancy and tones of red and yellow to compliment a corten steel wall and
glass fire pit. The second space called for muted greens and pastels for a special event area that could accommodate any themed party.

Landesign is proud to have been a creative part of this gorgeously retrofitted design.
