Dim Sum in San Diego Networking Lunch

 

Join the San Diego CITD for a complimentary Dim Sum networking lunch on October 2nd, hosted by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

 

The lunch will feature an information session about the 15th Hong Kong Forum and how to tap into the Hong Kong business platform in exploring business opportunities in the fast growing Chinese and Asian markets.

 

Monica Rosas, San Diego CITD Business Specialist, will also discuss the various programs and services offered through the CITD to facilitate international trade.

San Diego is gearing up for National Manufacturing Day (MFG DAY)

 

Selected by the US Secretary of Commerce as one of the 12 advanced manufacturing communities in the country, San Diego is on the forefront of helping to strengthen American manufacturing. Manufacturing supports more than 90,000 jobs throughout San Diego County. National Manufacturing Day on October 3, 2014 provides San Diego manufacturers a great opportunity to highlight to the local community and the country, the diverse products that are manufactured in the San Diego region.

As part of the Manufacturing Day activities this year, the San Diego Regional EDC and Tijuana EDC are coordinating a tour visiting facilities of two major contract manufacturing companies in Tijuana: Sigmatron and Munekata. 

 

The one-day tour will depart from the San Diego Central Library immediately after the Manufacturing Day kick-off breakfast.

Join the San Diego CITD and Southwestern College at the  2014 Tijuana Innovadora international event. The annual event, held over the course of ten days, features an expo, workshops, conferences, panel discussions, keynote addresses by world-renowned speakers, and other events centered around innovation in business, education, art, and more.This year's program will highlight the bilateral collaboration between San Diego and Tijuana as a model for broader cooperation between the United States and Mexico. 

 

A central component of Tijuana Innovadora 2014 expo will be the North America Pavilion, which will be open to the public nine days of the 10-day event and is expected to draw tens of thousands of people. This primary gathering spot will feature innovative companies and organizations from throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. Representatives from Southwestern College and the San Diego CITD will be available at Booth 24 within the North American Pavilion.

 

In addition to having a booth in the expo, Southwestern College will be well represented at this year's Tijuana Innovadora by its Superintendent/President, Dr. Melinda Nish, who will be participating on a panel on leadership titled "#100 Strong: Weaknesses and Strengths".

North American Manufacturing Partnership Trade Mission to Tijuana
Join the U.S. Department of Commerce, US-Mexico Chamber of Commerce, CMTC - California Manufacturing Technology Consulting, Tijuana Economic Development Corporation (DEITAC), and Center for International Trade Development on a trade mission to the most important manufacturing supply chain trade show in Northwest Mexico - BajaMak - which will be held in Tijuana, Mexico.

The trade show and expo emphasizes the maquiladora supply industry in the Baja California border region and will feature five specialized industries exhibiting their current needs for their manufacturing plants in Mexico. These industries include: Aerospace, Automotive, Medical Products, Metal/Mechanical, and Electronics.

 

Companies participating in the trade mission will receive:

  • Half booth at BajaMak Trade Show (Includes: nameplate, table, 2 chairs, and electrical outlet) 
  • Two manufacturing plant tours (aerospace and medical)
  • Transportation to and from event and manufacturing tours
  • Networking reception with industry representatives 
  • Trade Assistance before, during, and after the event

Join the San Diego CITD at BajaMak 2014 on October 23rd in Tijuana, Mexico.

 

The trade show and expo emphasizes the maquiladora supply industry in the Baja California border region and will feature five specialized industries exhibiting their current needs for their manufacturing plants in Mexico. These industries include: Aerospace, Automotive, Medical Products, Metal/Mechanical, and Electronics.

 

BajaMak has become an important venue in Northwest Mexico for companies looking to tap into the $11 billion suppliers market within the region's manufacturing industry. This year's event is expected to feature over 250 exhibitors (suppliers and buyers) and draw more than 2,500 attendees.

The San Diego CITD and Deputy Sector Navigator for Global Trade & Logistics - San Diego & Imperial Region - will be hosting a tour of the Port of San Diego's Marine Terminals for local High School and College CTE teachers. The tour, organized in collaboration with Grossmont College's High School/CTE Partnership Program, is meant to provide teachers with a better understanding of the global marketplace and how they can teach their students to develop skills for success in a global economy.

 

Immediately following the tour, the teachers will participate in a facilitated discussion on how they can incorporate a global perspective into their existing curriculum.

The Tijuana EDC and the Secretariat of Economic Development of Tijuana will be hosting an industrial tour that will showcase the region's competitiveness in and help further develop the supply chain of Aerospace an Defense companies in the Cali Baja Mega Region.

 

The tour will be held on November 12, 2014, a day prior to Baja's 5th International Aerospace Supplier Forum, which showcases supplier opportunities for companies in the Aerospace manufacturing industry.
