Medtronic Discusses Business Opportunities with Regional Suppliers 

Medtronic, one of the world's largest medical technologies company, was the latest company to participate in the Otay Mesa Chamber of Commerce's MEXPORT Supplier's Forum. With labor and transportation costs rising in China, many manufacturers have been moving or expanding their operations to Mexico, as the country's proximity to the United States and stable labor costs have made manufacturing operations there more competitive. The forums, hosted in partnership with the San Diego CITD, aim to connect regional suppliers with large manufacturers in the Baja California region.

 Supply chain managers and buyers from Medtronic's Tijuana manufacturing facility presented information on the company's products and current sourcing needs.

Mexico's Tax Reform: Update for Export Manufacturing Companies

Tijuana EDC
invites you to this one-hour seminar where accounting and tax specialists will provide an update on the VAT application to temporary imports and the certification process for exporting companies.


Items that will be covered include:


  • General overview of the Mexican Tax Reform and its implication for manufacturing companies
  • Reform to the tax rules for maquiladoras
  • The new certification program for temporal imports of goods applicable to export manufacturing companies.

Binational Supply Chain Seminar Featuring: TACNA

Tijuana's chapter of the National Chamber of Transformation Industries (CANACINTRA, as it is known in Mexico) will be hosting a monthly seminar on supply chain opportunities in Baja California's manufacturing sector. The seminars, open to suppliers on both sides of the border, will feature purchasing representatives from various manufacturers in the Baja region and a government agency who will discuss the products and services they are currently looking to source.


The next seminar, on April 30, 2014, will feature TACNA, a shelter services company representing more than 26 manufacturers across various industries including: Aerospace, Electronics, Plastics, and Cosmetics among others.

Baja Expo Spa 2014

The National Chamber of Transformation Industry- Tijuana Chapter (CANACINTRA) is organizing the first Baja Expo Spa. The goal of Baja Expo Spa is to broaden the Spa Industry and promote Health Tourism in the State of Baja California. The 2-day event will offer conferences, workshops, products and services display and networking.
