Dear Families,
As we prepare to leave for our Spring break, I want to acknowledge what a special week it has been. It started with extraordinary student performances at the Spring Fling concert, followed by fieldwork for many grades that included a presentation to the Boston Arts Commission to the Snake Sanctuary in Natick, to testing the quality of water at the Savin Hill Cove. And, yesterday we were all delighted by our first open concert in Dorchester Park followed by a parent-managed picnic.
One observation I want to share with you is the incredible difference that you can make. It was both amazing and heartwarming to see the way in which all the parents who volunteered on Saturday worked with faculty and staff to make Spring Fling so memorable. We all know that it is only by much hard work and good cooperation that a successful performance is possible. And, to quote a song that I just learned this week from the first graders, "If we all work together with a wiggle and a giggle, if we all work together with a giggle and a grin... if we all work together then it should not take long." These small children are very wise!
I want to give extra thanks to the co-chairs of the Spring Fling and the Steering Committee for their unflagging focus on bringing the feeling of community and celebration for all. Also, I was very touched by the original Ekua Holmes print that I received as a gift from all the parents. For a long time I had wanted to have a piece of her art.
My best wishes to all of you for a delightful Spring break.
 Warm regards,
Diana Lam
