Family Notes
March 18, 2016
Notes From the Top
Dear Families,

As we are on the cusp of Spring this coming Sunday, we are eager and in anticipation of the explosions of green and bloom soon to surround us.  This annual blossoming is the highlight of every year.

And so it is with us at Conservatory Lab. Spring is the time of plans and projects and all are energized and excited about engaging in these.

We are very involved in final stages of projects that are part of our expeditions, final rehearsals for upcoming concerts and plans for 8th grade graduation.

From K-1 with their "Eating Healthy" Unit to the 4th graders finding "Heroes" in the Revolutionary War period to middle schoolers in their newly formed Student Council, making plans for end-of-the year events that will build students' leadership skills, the entire student body is bursting with plans and ideas.

As teachers and parents we want to encourage, applaud and be involved in as many of these activities as possible.  Our support gives validation to all the effort and work that the students put forth and makes it valuable and happy.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Diana LamWarm regards,
Diana Lam

  • Bravo Lines
Spring Fling! 2016 is right around the corner, and many of you are in the midst of preparing for it. With this important annual concert comes a beloved tradition: Bravo lines! Each year, we dedicate many pages of the special Spring Fling program book to Bravo lines, which are personalized messages that families write for their children. These messages are loving, encouraging, and inspiring ways of showing our students how much our community supports them.

Bravo lines are also an important part of Spring Fling fundraising. To include the Bravo lines in the program, we charge $10 per physical line of writing. For example, if you submit a message for your child that takes up two lines of text in the program, it will cost $20. Typically, one line of text is about 13 words. The messages can be as long or short as you'd like; we do not edit them in any way.

If you would like to include a Bravo line for your child, please email Catherine Martin at cmartin@conservatorylab.org by Wednesday, March 23 with your message and she will let you know how you can pay for it. Feel free to let Catherine know if you have any questions!

Volunteer for the Spring Book Fair!
Dear Conservatory Lab Families,

The Scholastic Book Fair, one of the biggest fundraisers for the school community, is coming up soon, and we need your help! The book fair is a fun way to promote literacy and family involvement is the key!

The Brighton Campus fair will run Monday, April 4, through Friday, April 8, at the 320 Washington Street building. The fair is open all day, and we need volunteers to staff the fair, helping students to choose books and ringing up sales. It's a fun way to volunteer at the school and get to know other members of the school community!

Join us for a shift at one of the following times each day the fair is open:

8:00am - 11:00
11:00 a.m. - 2:00pm
2:00pm - 4:30pm

If you can only volunteer for part of a shift, that's fine-any help is tremendously appreciated.

We also need assistance with:
1. On Friday April 8 at 5:00pm. breaking down the displays and packing everything up for return to Scholastic.

To volunteer to help with the Lower School book fair, please follow the 3 easy steps below to sign up using VolunteerSpot (the leading online signup and reminder tool).

1. Click this link to go to our invitation page on VolunteerSpot or copy it in to your browser: http://vols.pt/iLMzej
2. Enter your email address: (You will NOT need to register an account on VolunteerSpot.)
3. Sign up! Choose your time slot(s) - VolunteerSpot will then send you an automated confirmation and reminders as the date of your time slot approaches. (Note: VolunteerSpot does not share your email address with anyone)

If you prefer not to use your email address, please contact me at
feliceandspence@yahoo.com and I can sign you up for a shift at the book fair manually.

The Dorchester Campus fair starts Monday April 11 through Friday April 15 . We will need assistance all days including Sunday April 10th for set-up and closing the fair Friday April 15 at 5:00pm.

To volunteer for a shift at the Dorchester fair follow the same instructions as above but the link is:http://vols.pt/wWWBvV

Many thanks in advance for any volunteer time you can offer for this very important PAC fundraiser! Your participation makes all the difference in the success of this event. We are lucky to have such a fantastic parent community!

I look forward to seeing you at the fair!
Best,
Felice Rutstein-Lee
