Notes From the Top
|
Dear Families,
We place a high value on enthusiasm at Conservatory Lab. Enthusiasm is a great source of positive energy that makes our learning keener and more enjoyable.
I was searching through the internet for good ideas on how to maintain energy, dynamism and well-being and found a blog called the The Happy Blog with these tips:
Breathing - feel energized with each deep breath.
Meditation - the more peaceful we are inside, the more dynamic outside.
Physical exercise - flushes your system to liveliness.
Creativity - do something new every day.
Read - knowledge is a great source of energy.
Being with Loved Ones - helps to relax, calm and uplift your soul.
Service, Stretch a helping hand - observe how you fell when you help someone.
Listen to Music - We know this one well. Music brings harmony to life.
Let go of negative thoughts and worries.
Be 100% in the moment. Make it perfect.
Rest - sleep is a powerful energizer.
Have a week end full of enthusiasm.
 Warm regards,
Diana Lam

Things are underway for this year's awesome Spring Fling!
Almost all classrooms have chosen the theme for their basket. Among the themes are Fun in the Sun, Crayola: Art & Crafts, Keeping Healthy, Legomania, and Movie Night & Ice Cream!
Gathering items for these baskets and creating each classroom's unique one is a spirited activity and contributes significantly to the bottom line for the event!
Make sure that you ask you child what the theme is in her/his classroom and join in the fun! To get involved with baskets, contact the Parent Basket Coordinator, Shayla Simmons, at shaylasimmons@gmail.com
Let all you friends and family know about it. Do it TODAY!

Protocol for Parent Classroom Visits/Shadowing
|
| |
|
We value the partnership we have with our parents and welcome your interest in our programs and process. Every effort will be made to accommodate your request to shadow/visit your child during the instructional day.
Who May Visit The right to observe a child's instructional program during the school day resides soley with a child's parent, legal guardian, or foster parent. It does extend to grandparents or other interested close relatives or caregivers.
Who May Be Observed The sole purpose of a classroom visit by a parent is to observe their child and the instructional program being presented. At no time should a parent's motive for or focus of classroom visit to be to observe another students or students in the classroom. If the principal has knowledge of or suspects that the focus of a parent's classroom visit is to observe another student, s/he reserves the right to deny a requested visit or to end a visit in progress.
Scheduling Visits must be scheduled through the Principal for a time and date convenient to both the parent and the teacher. The principal will notify appropriate teacher(s) and administrative staff. The parental observation date should be within a reasonable time frame following an initial request. A request for a specific date must be made no less than 24hours in advance. No visits will be allowed while students are participating in assessments, quizzes, or tests. No visits will be allowed while class is being covered by a substitute.
Duration To minimize potential interruptions and distractions during instructional time, the Principal reserves the right to limit the duration of classroom observations.
Expectation During Classroom Shadowing Parents shadowing their child in a classroom should arrange their schedules to enter and exit the classroom in a manner that would not interrupt the instructional activities in progress. While visiting the class, the teacher will designate an area for parents to sit. Unnecessary noise of movement must be kept to a minimum.
Parents wishing to discuss their child's behavior after observing her/him during class should schedule a parent conference with the teachers. Questions or concerns that come up during the instructional day may be addressed directly to the principal or principal designee.
We expect parents to keep any information about students that would result in the identification of individual students confidential; this includes, but is not limited to, student work groups, behavior, or classroom contribution.
Video and/or audio recording of classroom visits is prohibited. Violation of this or any other guideline can result in dismissal from the classroom, and/or school site. A school administrator may be present during the visit.
