Family Notes
February 26, 2016
Notes From the Top
Dear Families,

This last week has provided opportunities for several of our classes to go out into the field and do outside research for their expeditions.

When our students take the knowledge that they have acquired in the classroom into the outside world and integrate it with another relevant experience, underscoring what they have learned, this gives them a greater understanding of the subject matter and makes them stand taller with the knowledge.

Teaching and learning can become inherently spontaneous and student-centered when moved from the confines of the classroom into the world at large. The deep learning that occurs when students must put into practice "in the real world" what they have theorized about from behind a desk makes these field experiences unmatched in their learning potential. That is why we begin these field expeditions early in our student's school life and continue them throughout. The opportunities to make these connections between classroom knowledge and the "real world" can be formative and can inspire students to continue their quest for knowledge both their classroom and out in the world.

Hope you have a weekend full of interesting experiences.

Diana LamWarm regards,
Diana Lam

All the Conservatory Lab Community extends its deepest sympathy and most sincere condolences to the family of Elijah Simon on the occasion of his dear father's passing.
