Dear Families,
All of your calls and emails to the Mayor, the Head of the BRA, and Councillor Tito Jackson are having an impact! The constant and growing number of messages from you are beginning to make a difference in moving our case forward. However, the urgency for your action remains high! Now is the time to involve all the members of your family, your neighbors and your friends in this critical campaign. Please have everyone write and call the Mayor, the Head of the BRA and Councillor Jackson today to help break the impasse our school is experiencing in trying to get our new school built!.
Kind regards, John Chistolini Interim Head of School
The time has come to have our voices heard and the needs of our children met! Be part of this initiative. Call and email the Mayor, the Head of the BRA and Councillor Jackson today! Tell them our children deserve this new building. Tell them you support bringing Conservatory Lab Charter School to Roxbury.
Check out our progress! We need to make it to 300! If we work together we can achieve success.

Notes From the Top

Dear Parents,
We often hear it said and we often say it to our students, reflection is the most important part of the learning process. To be reflective means to mentally review where we have been and to try to make some sense out of it,
Reflection leads us to understand the meaning of an experience. We want our students to get into the habit of linking and constructing meaning from their experiences. Reflection has many facets. For example, reflecting on experiences encourages insight and complex learning. We foster our own growth when we control our learning, so some reflection is best done alone. Reflection is also enhanced, however, when we ponder our learning with others.
Whether alone or in a group, reflection is deliberate and structured thinking about choices. It is an important habit of mind which is good to cultivate. Through reflection, we can look clearly at our successes and struggles and consider options for change.
This deep thinking also means applying what we've learned to contexts beyond the original situations in which we learned something. This makes our powers of learning grow.
Enjoy some time reflecting his week-end.

- Parents Safety Alert!
The Security Department at the Carney Hospital has made an emphatic request that ALL parents follow the plan for pick-up of students.
PLEASE do NOT make a U-turn at the top of the hill or in front of the Ambulance Entrance. This practice is causing a safety hazard. You must go to the top of the hill and follow the road around, then come back down.
Many thanks for your cooperation. It is important to be a good neighbor to Carney!

Book Fair Coming Up!
Dear Conservatory Lab Families,
The Scholastic Book Fair, one of the biggest fundraisers for the school community, is coming up soon, and we need your help! The book fair is a fun way to promote literacy and family involvement is the key!
The Brighton campus fair will run Monday, October 26, through Friday, October 30, at the 320 Washington Street building. The fair is open all day, and we need volunteers to staff the fair, helping students to choose books and ringing up sales. It's a fun way to volunteer at the school and get to know other members of the school community!
Join us for a shift at one of the following times each day the fair is open:
8:00 am - 11:00
11:00 a.m. - 2:00pm
2:00 pm - 4:30pm
If you can only volunteer for part of a shift, that's fine-any help is tremendously appreciated.
We also need assistance with:
1. On Saturday, October 24th at 9:00 a.m. book fair set-up assistance
2. On Friday October 30th at 5:00pm. breaking down the displays and packing everything up for return to Scholastic.
To volunteer to help with the book fair, please follow the 3 easy steps below to sign up using VolunteerSpot (the leading online signup and reminder tool).
2. Enter your email address: (You will NOT need to register an account on VolunteerSpot.)
3. Sign up! Choose your time slot(s) - VolunteerSpot will then send you an automated confirmation and reminders as the date of your time slot approaches. (Note: VolunteerSpot does not share your email address with anyone)
If you prefer not to use your email address, please contact me at feliceandspence@yahoo.com and I can sign you up for a shift at the book fair manually.
The Dorchester campus fair starts Monday November 2 through Friday November 6 . We will assistance all days including Sunday November 1st for set-up and closing the fair Friday November 6 at 5:00pm.
Many thanks in advance for any volunteer time you can offer for this very important PAC fundraiser! Your participation makes all the difference in the success of this event. We are lucky to have such a fantastic parent community!
I look forward to seeing you at the fair!
Best,
Felice Rutstein-Lee
