Urgent! We Need Your Help!
The situation surrounding approval for the proposed new building for our school has reached an impasse.  We are being told that it looks very unlikely that the project for our new school will be allowed to go forward.  The Councillor of District 7 says, he is getting "many" objections  to our school coming into Bartlett Place and he has heard very little in support of the venture.

The time has come to have our voices heard and the needs of our children met!

If we sit back and do nothing, the dream for our new school to be built for our children in Bartlett Place is "dead in the water"! Years of planning and money will be lost!

We must not sit back and let that happen. We call on the power of the parents to unite and take a stand!  We have been successful before. By joining together and bringing pressure on the decision-making powers, we waged a long but successful campaign to get approval for the expansion of the school.
We can do this again!
As before, success will come if there is sufficient pressure brought to bear by Boston residents, on the Mayor and on the Head of the Boston Redevelopment Authority: pressure from parents, your relatives, your neighbors and your friends.
An ongoing avalanche of emails and phone calls from parents and others who believe in the school's right to be part of Bartlett Place must be directed at the two decision makers so they come to know that there IS a large number of people in the community who DO want the school built there!
Be part of this initiative! Call or email the Mayor and the Head of the BRA today. Tell them our children deserve this new building.  Tell them you support bringing Conservatory Lab Charter School to Roxbury. And then let Robyn Pretlow know that you made contact by emailing her at rpretlow@conservatorylab.org

Office of the Mayor: 617-635-3274; mayor@boston.gov
BRA Director: 617-722-4300 ext. 84326

We can win this if we unite and take action now!
Notes From the Top

Dear Parents,
Our continuing goal is to have a great school. What is the difference between an average school and an exceptional one?
Unity is the key. Whether we're talking about a sports team, work team, church team, home team or school team, it's essential that we get everyone on the bus and moving in the right direction with a shared vision, focus, purpose and direction. When our school team - students, teachers & parents - keeps this in mind and demonstrates it with their daily actions we are able to succeed together.
If we lose our focus on being a united team we become dysfunctional.
It's not easy to bring everyone together. Egos, negativity, complaining, and a lack of vision, focus and purpose can all prevent our members from uniting and performing at our highest level. There are hundreds of negative forces and factors that can sabotage our school's teamwork, unity and success. The good news is that working towards the unity that we know will bring us success can take place every day!
Unity requires focus, time, and energy. Unity occurs when all members of our community care more about the vision, purpose and health of the school than they do their own personal agenda. Changing the mindset is essential. Unity happens when each person working on creating the best school environment can clearly see how their personal vision and effort contributes to the overall vision and success of the school.
Have a happy first weekend in October.
Kind regards,
John Chistolini
Interim Head of School

With appreciation,
Nicole Bradeen
Principal

  • Dear Parents,
The Board of Directors of the Conservatory Lab Charter School (CLCS) has asked the entire school community- faculty, staff and parents - to engage in a single candidate interview process for the new Executive Director over the next three weeks. The Executive Director would replace the Head of School and begin on July 1, 2016. The new title reflects a different role from the one that Diana Lam holds. The Executive Director will be responsible for Conservatory Lab Charter School, working with the Principal and management team, and the Center for Artistry and Scholarship in Education (CASE) - the entity that will carry out our mission to provide training and technical assistance to educators who are interested in learning more about CLCS' work in Expeditionary Learning and El Sistema.
An interview process such as this is undertaken when a particularly unique and qualified candidate surfaces that the Board feels should be seriously considered.  Such a candidate has presented herself.  Her name is Linda Nathan.
As an important member of this school's community, you are cordially invited to be part of this search. The date and time that has been set for Parents to interview Ms. Nathan is Wednesday, October 7th, 6:30 to 8:30p.m.at the school's Dorchester site.
You are also being sent an email with attachments of the job description for Executive Director, Ms. Nathan's resume and an overview of the process for you to peruse.
Please make every effort to attend this important meeting which is part of the whole interview process. Thank you for your consideration in contributing your knowledge and insights to this process.

    Best regards,
    Danna Mauch, Trustee & Chair
    Selection Committee for Executive Director
  • Dear Conservatory Lab Families,

The Scholastic Book Fair, one of the biggest fundraisers for the school community, is coming up soon, and we need your help! The book fair is a fun way to promote literacy and family involvement is the key!

The Brighton campus fair will run Monday, October 26, through Friday, October 30, at the 320 Washington Street building. The fair is open all day, and we need volunteers to staff the fair, helping students to choose books and ringing up sales. It's a fun way to volunteer at the school and get to know other members of the school community!

    8:00 am - 11:00
    11:00 a.m. - 2:00pm
    2:00 pm - 4:30pm

If you can only volunteer for part of a shift, that's fine-any help is tremendously appreciated.
