Dear Families,
We often speak about the special culture that exists at Conservatory Lab. The school has grown so much over the last two years that it is probably a good time to cite some specifics of what we mean when we say "the culture" of the school.
In our culture we share common values, norms and a way of speaking to each other.
We value cooperation, responsibility and perseverance. We are kind and respectful in the way we treat others and speak to them. We demonstrate empathy for our fellow workers, our students and our families. Everyone has issues and challenges and they are more easily borne if the ones that surround us have consideration for what we are experiencing. We have rules of behavior that ensure our safety, our collegiality and our learning environment. Throughout the school, students, faculty and staff organize into small groups to meet some of our basic needs and larger goals through dialogue and through working things out together.
And significantly, we share a love of and a belief in the importance of music in our daily lives. We have the commitment to the value of learning to play an instrument and the knowledge that this practice will benefit our thinking, our feeling, and our way of being.
Constant practice of the tenets of the culture is what preserves it and enhances it. Let us cherish our culture.
Kind regards, John Chistolini Interim Head of School

| With appreciation, Nicole Bradeen Principal

Dear Parents,
The Board of Directors of the Conservatory Lab Charter School (CLCS) has asked the entire school community- faculty, staff and parents - to engage in a single candidate interview process for the new Executive Director over the next three weeks. The Executive Director would replace the Head of School and begin on July 1, 2016. The new title reflects a different role from the one that Diana Lam holds. The Executive Director will be responsible for Conservatory Lab Charter School, working with the Principal and management team, and the Center for Artistry and Scholarship in Education (CASE) - the entity that will carry out our mission to provide training and technical assistance to educators who are interested in learning more about CLCS' work in Expeditionary Learning and El Sistema. An interview process such as this is undertaken when a particularly unique and qualified candidate surfaces that the Board feels should be seriously considered. Such a candidate has presented herself. Her name is Linda Nathan.
As an important member of this school's community, you are cordially invited to be part of this search. The date and time that has been set for Parents to interview Ms. Nathan is Wednesday, October 7th, 6:30 to 8:30p.m.at the school's Dorchester site.
You are also being sent an email with attachments of the job description for Executive Director, Ms. Nathan's resume and an overview of the process for you to peruse.
Please make every effort to attend this important meeting which is part of the whole interview process. Thank you for your consideration in contributing your knowledge and insights to this process.
Best regards, Danna Mauch, Trustee & Chair Selection Committee for Executive Director
- The Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) invites you and your family to our first general PAC meeting and potluck on Friday, October 2nd, 2015, from 6 to 8 pm. The potluck will take place at VietAID, located at 42 Charles Street, Dorchester, MA 02122. It is close to the Fields Corner (Red Line) T-Stop, and there is street parking available.
This is a great time to meet other Conservatory Lab families and find out what the PAC has planned for the year. We need your help to build a great parent community! So bring a dish, and we'll see you on October 2nd.
If you want to find out more PAC news, be sure to sign up on our NEW website for parents: www.conservatorylabpac.ning.com
Thanks, PAC Interim Leadership Team conservatorylabpac@gmail.com
