Reviews and Critiques at the Annual Portfolio Review Night
At our annual Portfolio Review Night, second-year and BFA students meet with area professionals to have their portfolios critiqued one-on-one. These additional critiques allow students to make last-minute changes to their portfolio before attending job interviews - just one more way the Creative Center works toward student confidence during the job hunt.
The Creative Center would like to thank the following professionals for lending their time and experience to assist our students:
- Mark Carpenter, Partner / VP of Creative Strategy & Production
- Joseph Comstock, Creative Director, OPPD
- Pat Ervin, President, Fountain Creek DezignWorks
- Kelsey Janda, UI Design Lead, Hudl
- Lisa Teet, Creative Director, Design, Firespring
- Timothy Young, Creative Director, Bozell
|
Annually, as a part of Portfolio Development class, second-year students are visited by alumni of the Creative Center who hold a variety of jobs in the field. These alumni are able to give a brief overview of their activities after leaving college and their current job responsibilities, then the students have an opportunity to ask questions.
Thanks to all our alumni who attended this year to help out:
- Scott Durrie (BFA '11), Freelance
- Dylan Ludwick (BFA '13), Graphic Designer/Photography Assistant,
- Jessica Smolinski (BFA '14), Associate Interactive Designer, Hayneedle

CC Students Win Big at Districts!
Five students won seven District 9 ADDYs this year! The American Advertising Awards (called the ADDYs, locally) is held every year and offers an opportunity for both professionals and students to test their creative mettle against their peers. Winners from the local level are forwarded to the District level and those winners are sent to nationals. This year, the Creative Center tied with UNK to win the most district ADDYs than any other college in our 4-state district. Congratulations!

From the Director
Oh, summer, what would we do without you? When asked how many days until summer break, most teachers will know without the recourse of their smartphone. Here at the Creative Center, the students are gone for the year, graduation is looming, and the classrooms are looking very ... well ... white and boring. Is it too soon to start the countdown until the first day of school?
If you are interested in professional development courses, the Creative Center will be offering more non-credit courses this summer. You can see all classes offered as they become available on Eventbrite.
If you are considering a career in graphic design and advertising, call us today to set up a time to interview. Fall classes for 2016 start on August 8.
Sincerely,
Kim Guyer
